Religious Insensitivity

I do say. And what an excellent rebuttal to any of the points I made. Really... great job. I am, of course, being entirely sarcastic... because you literally accomplished nothing. You didn't even try really.
So I guess your philosophy is: If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with a wall of bull****.

I feel the responders of this thread have generated some good responses which have expanded my mind.

Yes, and some of the responders have proven your point that not everyone is willing to speak calmly and rationally and respectfully about their pet subjects.
We all have a right to our views and no human is our judge on those things.

Sooooo.....

I am sorry I was not being calm but some of more anti-Christian elements in this thread would have us believe that for their part they are innocent victims of mean ol' Christians and all they want is belief whatever they believe and not be judge for their beliefs yet somehow they get to chide and malign Christians in the process because we deserve it. It kinda pisses me off when they play innocent victim

But this is what Christ told us to expect...(John 15:19-21)....the fact that opposers makes us angry just allows unchristian conduct to emerge and make us behave in ways that Christ would condemn. We can all have our views, but how we handle pressure and insults must mirror how Jesus handled them. Self-control is a fruit of God's spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and there are many ways in which we can demonstrate that we can love even our enemies as Jesus said. (Matthew 5:43-45)

"Do not let yourself be conquered by the evil, but keep conquering the evil with the good." (Romans 12:21)
Its a test of our mettle.

And you go with small snippets of bull****, I take it. Maybe I'll start using your method.

Again with no refutation or counter to anything I actually said. Seriously - you could try. It probably wouldn't even be that hard. I mean, I do have some obvious counter-points in mind already, but if your claim that I have no "brilliance" (I'd never claim that I did) is an implication that you expect you have the ability to bring "brilliance" to the table, then go ahead - dazzle me.

Here's the sad thing though. I feel there are some arguments out there for the existence of God to be discussed. Decent ones. No one's using them. No one's searching Philosophy. We ARE getting some arguments that would not stand up in formal debate from the religious people. A lot of them.

So you made a good point regardless on which side I'm on.
That’s because there is no evidence for god. The best there is for god are unsound deductive arguments. Even those do not get into an agent, let alone a personal god. This is primarily why religion is faith based, with some odd anecdotes here and there.

Agreed, but the comment was "argument for god" just like there's sound arguments for atheism. Likewise, there isn't any evidence for or against. Nothing. Nada. Zip. It's a big unknown.

What we do have are a lot of questions. For me, the biggest one is "What caused the Big Bang?" Elsewhere the discussion was that the answer could probably be found in Quantum Physics along with Multiverses.

I know it is best to be peaceful as much as it depends on me ( Romans 12:18 ) but sometimes even Jesus had to call out certain people out for hypocrisy and calumny ( Matthew 23:33 )

When did you realise the whole thing is pointless?
And you Mister Innocent like to play like you are Penelope Pureheart and you are absolutely not attacking theist but just about every other thread you have created is in some way a jab or jibe at theists, including that one about Mister Lonely Guy and his Imaginary Girlfriend, not only in that one did you manage to ridicule theists, you also take potshots at disabled people who suffer from social anxiety.

Unfortunately, the difference is that Jesus is appointed as judge and we are not. Calumny is nothing new for God's servants. Satan was the first slanderer. Jesus castigated the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. Its all been around a long time.

We can call out a behavior or an idea when it disagrees with the scriptures, but we can't make it a personal condemnation. "Sheep and goats" are all there are in this world...we don't get to make that call either. That judgment belongs to Christ.

We also have to have scriptural backing for everything we say...otherwise it is just us expressing a personal view...not God's view.

No one is perfect. Though, I do try stick to the evidence as much as possible and try stay as objective as possible. You can't trick a trickster, huh?

I honestly have no idea what this is referring to. Would you mind enlightening me?

So, when did you discover the whole thing is pointless?

Ohhh yeah. My point didn't get across. Btw, the guy might have had social anxiety, but I suspect something else. I'm actually really nice to those people and usually try befriend them. No, there was something sinister about him. Sinister in the sense that you can usually tell when someone is bull****ting with every word.

The Reverend Bob

No one likes bullies, but if Jesus said we had to love our enemies, what do you think that means in reality?
That we are to love are our enemies and Paul expounds further on it in Romans 12:17-21 that we aren't to pay evil for evil but do good to our enemies instead

Eh, I must have struck a nerve. You seem to be judging me on what I asked and a story you don't know the full details of, nor did I express them fully. Obviously, social anxiety is at the core of this and I wouldn't think of changing your mind since whatever is going on is probably very personal.
So, I apologise if I offended you and hope you feel better.
