LOL...so the completely flawed system of peer review will do for now...?
If you say so....

The system of peer review resulted in the know-how to build the internet device you are currently using to read this message.

So yes, call us when you find a system that does a better job.

So, how do you propose to figure out the processes of physics and chemistry to the point of being able to build a smartphone, if not through the scientific method?

Who said? And where is the proof for all these allegations? I have only ever seen assumptions dressed up as science. They have nothing but imagination palmed off as evidence. Its complete rubbish.

You are correct. Humans don't "come from apes"
We come from hominins.

This is the size of the new skull they found.....its tiny, like a small dog.

This is a reconstruction of the features of this "ancestor" along with the cranium size.
There is no real evidence that humans had ancestors who looked like this.
It is an assumption...based more on imagination, rather than real evidence.

Human skull....note cranium size.

Who does it most resemble? Ape or man? Isn't this imagination running riot?

I don't know what all the fuss is about...?

This Ethiopian "find" is not a "human" skull...it is clearly a small ape. Who says its an ancestor of man? Science does not really know that apes evolved into humans....it is only supposed that they did.....and with very flimsy evidence to back it up. Similarity does not confirm relationship. Who said that the diversity of apes is even a result of evolution?

Much ado about nothing IMO.....
Because its bipedal...that's the specialty. Also significant evolution of the teeth from ancestral ape-type (fruit eating large canines, no grinding molars) to human type (smaller canines, rise of grinding teeth) can be seen.

But I don't expect you to get enlightened about any of this..and I don't care if you accept or not.

How do you know that?
The bible says life came out of the sea.
The bible also says that the sun "stood still in the sky" for several days, that the first woman was created from the first man's ribs, that a man survived in a fish's belly for several days, that the world was flooded and a handfull of creatures survived on some physically impossible boat, etc etc etc etc.

And I suspect that the bible saying life came out of the sea is debatable at best.
After all, didn't god supposedly create adam from dirt?

There is no rational reason to care about what the bible says concerning the origins of life, or anything else in the universe for that matter.

There is a lot of debunking still to take place I'll wager....o_O
Taking science's word for what they cannot support with any real evidence is just gullibility IMO.
Who put science up there on that pedestal? It s a long way to fall.

Neither can they....

No, its something to jump up and down about, making world headlines!.....but the world is jumping too.....because they believe everything scientists say like they are God and science is their religion.....

I'd sooner have science as my religion than religion as my science - like, which religion would I choose?

This is all about black supremacists.
We have fossil hominins from Europe too.
Let's not just play the Africa card all the time.

The fossil remains for the human line are from times *much*later than this.

Sheesh. This really isn't about promoting one race or another. It is about finding our common ancestry. Our ancestors happen to come from Africa.

I'm sure that the Creator will show us all where we should have put our trust.
You can never trust humans to tell the truth if there is money to be had. God cannot be bought.
He tells a very different story...so who do you trust?

You should have stopped at that, and hence the reason why we should never trust anything that comes from the past - including all that has been written by those unknown to us.

It's to poke at Craig Cobb read the back story
I've just read it (I'd never heard of this guy) and it is bloody funny, esp. the bit about trying to take over a "city" with 32 inhabitants (WTF?) , and turning out to have 14% sub-Saharan ancestry. One of these Only-In-America stories.

But it is a tad off-topic in a science thread, I suppose. :D

Do they? What record do they have that is supposed to make them trustworthy?
It's never picked the wrong god, demon, prophet, commandments, or fairies.
You could be right.....but everywhere man has gone with science, it has ended up being used for sinister purposes.....its a "man and science", "hand-in-glove sort of thing". Lust for money is usually at the bottom of all of it.
Everything can be used for sinister purposes.
But science has lengthened lives, & filled them with entertainment.
Science has been responsible for some of the most despicable disregard for the carefully balanced eco-systems on this unique planet, bringing it and all its inhabitants in many parts of the earth to the brink of extinction. Nature takes care of the earth and its creatures, but humans are not taking care of nature...the end result has a lot of people worried about the future.
Without science, we wouldn't even know of environmental damage.
The lungs of the world are currently burning and the custodians of that extremely important world resource don't appear to care.
At the feet of science we can lay the blame for much of the chemical pollution, air pollution, water pollution, and food interference affecting our lives on a daily basis. Whole fresh foods are replaced with processed rubbish. Climate change is now blamed for the devastating droughts that are affecting many nations, whilst others are drowning. The ice caps are melting at an alarming rate.....so, have all the scientific advances really been good for the planet in the long term? They are now warning about the effects of 5G radiation....but those with financial investments are making sure that no one has any concerns about it...its perfectly safe...or is it? Smoking at one time was perfectly safe and so was asbestos....
No one really knows the long term effects of these exposures over time, especially considering the amount of time kids are glued to their phones. Their brains are not fully formed.

Science has basically killed God in the minds of those not disposed to being spiritually minded, so many people now think that science is God......but how trustworthy have they ever really been in the past? Is the trust misplaced...I believe it is.
Where's yer God in keeping our planet verdant?

Even a casual glance shows that new skull to be somewhere in between...right where it would be supportive of an evolutionary intermediary.

A lot of evolution can happen in 3.8 million years. I know a considerable amount has happened in the last 30,000 years

I don't buy science's version at all. There is no evidence that evolution ever took place...it is assumed, not proven.

From this article...
Ancient fossil skull discovered in Ethiopia fills critical gap in human evolution

"Dr Haile-Selassie, a world authority on ancient human evolution at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, was on a dig at Woranso-Mille in the Afar region of Ethiopia in 2016 when he was approached by the local herdsman.

The man had walked 3 kilometres from where he was camped with his family to show Dr Haile-Selassie a jawbone he'd picked up from the ground while tending to his goats on the harsh, rocky plateau.

Dr Haile-Selassie returned to the site with the man, who pointed out where the fossil came from.

"About 3 metres away from where the upper jaw was found the whole cranium was sitting there," he recalled.

"That's when I realised it was something really, really significant."

How did they find a 3.8 million year old fossil just lying on the ground? Seriously?

Hold on Deeje...we can address all your concerns as soon as I disprove all of the science that it took for all of us to even read on these funny glowy screens we keep staring at....

The problem is that creationists don't consider this evidence. The only reason I can see for this is that they would require us to have evidence from each and every generation, including film footage of births at each generation. Anything less would be 'unproven speculation'.

*shrug*
Sounds familiar.
Not enough evidence.
Not enough evidence.

The difference here is that one is pure conjecture, that cannot be verified - evolution. The other has been verified - accurate historical events; true scientific discoveries... found in the Bible.

So, why believes stories, that are created to support ideas assumed to be correct? Example...
Seeing the Formation of Planets
The Formation of the Solar System in 4K (Ultra HD)

"We don't know how planets formed in the beginning," said Jaumann.

"And in order to understand this, (we must) go to the small bodies, these primitive bodies, primordial in their history in their evolution, in order to understand the first 10 to 100 million years of planetary formation."

A dust mystery, and a future threat?
MASCOT also presented scientists with a new mystery: its lack of fine particles, or interplanetary dust, which would normally accumulate through millions of years of space weathering.

The paper offered theories but no definitive conclusions.
******************************************************************************

Why try to make one belief seem so superior to another?
Both are beliefs, aren't they?
Scientists believe. Why try to deny that?

Sure. Like refuting several independent lines of evidence, and basically all of science, because they collide with a book written by some ancient herders, with vastly more clue about goats and sheep than biology and cosmology.

Well done.

'believed' to have given rise to our genus, Homo . . .

Looks like a creationist. The missing link between mere homo and the sapiens version. :)

Joking, of course.

Well, let's see, you have no credentials and no experience in the field, so we should definitely go with your analysis, over that of scientists who actually study this stuff, right?
