Respect to Women in the US

Alceste, the stories you share does not have sources. "It is said", "They did this and that" but no source. And I don't consider things with no source credible.

You mean rape is legal in almost all Arab states? Please clarify.

I apologize if I misunderstood you.

It is certainly not. But the Islamic rules are misused. The Quran states that to prove charges of adultery against a woman, four witnesses are needed. But they somehow started using the rule for rape. But these authorities forget that a woman can't commit adultery by herself alone; so it makes me wonder why the man is set free? Otherwise I hear that the punishment for rape is only execution.

I don't really wanna start an argument with him, I only wanted to know if that was what he meant. No worries :)

Yeah I agree. Islam rules are misused. Muslims are mostly missed up these days.

Me neither. So when I encounter something I find hard to believe, even on a credible mainstream news site like the BBC or the Guardian, I use google search to find further information. For example, by googling the names of the victims.

Try that and see how you get on.

Then again, in the Muslim world even reporting that you have been raped can lead to grave consequences. Frankly, the stigmatization in Canada and the US is bad enough, but most other areas on the planet lag far, far, far behind us. At least here, a person will not be prosecuted for being raped.
Unless she is wearing something slutty. Or is in the military and was raped by a superior officer who was married and now you've committed adultery.

Bingo!!

Or where it's legal like it is in almost all arab states.

Well this is from wikipedia, but the article does list 238 references:

Red = "marital rape is criminalized"
Orange = "marital rape is a form of non-criminal domestic violence"
Black = "marital rape is known not to be criminalized"

Marital Rape.

The majority of rapes that occur in the world are not by strangers, but by people that the victim knows. I've seen estimates as low as 4% for stranger rape, with the other 96% being spouses, partners, relatives, and acquaintances. So if laws are set up to either ignore certain broad types of rape, or to blame women for those rapes, then saying it's legal is partially accurate.
