https://www.quora.com/Are-there-actually-any-mainstream-Democrats-who-want-to-ban-all-guns

Every sign holder was interviewed, & said they didn't mean what their signs said?

No I am sure there are sign holders that want all guns banned, just like the people that believe the earth is flat or that we didn't land on the moon or the people that believe the US will ban all guns.

As to the Video it was people speaking for Hilary Clinton, who hasn't been in Congress for how many years and has been a working political employee for more than a year. The democratic party has started to discipline and distance themselves from her.

But his record has shown that he feels that individuals do not have the right to own firearms for self protection or even hunting, so it is reasonable to assume that that is what he ultimately wants. As I stated in my original post, it's never going to happen but I am interested in hypothetical ideas of how getting rid of guns in the U.S. would work. I know there are a few people here that would love to see all guns banned in the U.S., those are the people that I am interested in hearing from describing how such a plan would be enacted which was the purpose of the O.P.

The problem is that is stirs up the wacko's that actually believe their guns will be taken away.

I don't believe the US will ban guns.
But I see people advocate for that.

These people exist nonetheless.

It still looks like the 3rd rail of politics.
I don't care about clarification....just better policy.

I'm not understanding what you mean here.

What is the 3rd rail of politics? How do we know that a better policy can exist within the bounds of the constitution? That's basically the issue with the current amendment.

To propose repealing the 2nd Amendment would be political suicide.

I'm not sure about that... Maybe to a conservative politician but not sure about a liberal or independent. Still, I would be speculating so just my opinion.

Plus, if the message was about gun control and how repealing was but a single step to a bigger plan in amending the constitution, it might not be that bad. It could even gain popularity as most Americans have been polled to favor more gun control. The message has to be very clear though as I can see some jumping to conclusions at the worse case scenarios of confiscation and a more fascist government.

Again, I'm speculating.

See any politicians advocating repealing the 2nd?

You have a point on me there. I wouldn't expect any politician with NRA funding to do it.

This will depend on the number of future gun massacres. With every new massacre, it will push more people to the left. Plus, the march for you life movement could possibly summed up as the newer generation more disapproving of gun ownership. I usually see change coming with generations.

Here's the thing about the Second Amendment @Stanyon...

The open-ended interpretation favored by the gun lobby is a modern invention. Chief Justice Warren Burger said as much.

Justices that have been around the block know it's a modern invention. It came about through the NRA funneling billions into our system after the Citizen's United decision. Albeit, they've been doing it longer than that illegally. Citizens United simply rubber stamped the behavior.

The point is, the Justice in question no doubt knows this open-ended interpretation is modern. It has no past precedent. It's a very clever pulling of the wool over the eyes the gun lobby has managed to pull off.
