Reza Aslan and Fox News

It was pretty funny. The interviewer could have produced a wonderful interview if she was interested in asking good questions.

What's really interesting about this to me is the fact that, if Jesus actually existed, from a logical and rational standpoint, the Islamic view of Jesus is much more easy to accept. In other words, the Islamic view of Jesus is much more rational.

Lol, he wasn't speaking on the Islamic view of Jesus.

Islamic view of Jesus is that he was born of a virgin, a prophet, but wasn't a god nor crucified.

This might be a case of what happens when you hire anchors solely for their looks.

Namaste,

Which is why I believe that Islam makes more sense than Christianity. Muslims are consistent in their reasoning and more honest. No offense, fellow Christians.

Why the Fox News Scandal Is Good News for Reza Aslan

This is just embarrassing. I don't know how many people here have seen this, but it's a must see. Fox has stooped to a new low with this one.

Namaste,

Not only is it highly embarrassing, it is a great example of why people around the world believe Americans aren't too bright. Aslan-ji handled himself wonderfully. Why in the world does that woman have a job? She should have been fired on the spot without pay. A lawsuit should also be filed by Aslan-ji against Fox for their perverted approach. What has this world come to? Why do we humans continue to make a laughing stock out of ourselves?

I'm not entirely sure why anyone would give Reza Aslan the time of day, let alone Faux turning an interview into a comedy routine.

Perhaps they might give him time of day because he's spent considerable time and effort to learn his subject, and they have some respect for that learnedness, regardless of whether or not they agree with him in all respects.

I know, but she was making him being a Muslim out to be some sort of thing that should disqualify him from talking about Jesus at all. But if anyone would do a little thinking, him being a Muslim would make him more qualified, precisely because the Islamic view of Jesus is more rational.

Sleeppy

Fatalist. Christian. Pacifist.

How is it more rational?

Why not?

Is there a piece of his message you disagree with?

His credentials are not the best I agree, but that doesn't mean his view is skewed does it.

He seems more qualified then most people given time here on the forum ;)

His view is very similar to mine. I think he over attributes historicity in some areas, but all in all, he is on track to what modern scholarships are pointing towards with recent archeological discoveries in Sepphoris and Capernaum.

Namaste,

You call 20 years of research a comedy routine?

One could have 40 years study in religion, and have ZERO place talking about historical context of anyone.

I like him and all, but he is not really a scholar or historian. He is more of a writer then a historian.

Namaste,

He pretty much wasted 20 years of his life, then, eh?

He handled himself wonderfully. The approach by the interviewer was disgusting. It seemed that him being Muslim was more important than his book. The reporting only fed the watchers with anti-Muslim propaganda.
