RF Not a Place for Muslims

I would agree RF is not very hospitable to Muslims I agree with this but as I read your thread I think the nature of Muhammad being in the Bible has been a long standing debate for some time. But this is not a place to “spread the word of Islam,” because due to the climate of what is going on in the world very many people are biased in their opinions regarding Muslims and Islam.

By the way I’m a non-Muslim that has went to bat for Muslims and Islam many times hence is why people mistakenly consider me a Muslim. Although, and perhaps at heart I maybe, but I love Hennessy too much. But if you truly want to spread the message of Islam continue to study Islamic theology, philosophy, or do charitable works.

Wow! I thought you were Muslim, but then, you seemed too unique. Also, the Hennessy part made me chuckle. :)

Why should I want to search the forum to find out what you are? I'm not interested. You said people mistake you for a Muslim. I said you could make things clear by using the facility provided to label yourself with something more intelligent than "the one which the craetor made".

But I have. You didn’t know, and therefore it’s not my job to make you aware of my beliefs considering I have done this some time while back.

It's because Muhammad is not in the bible; your arguments were defeated, and you would not debate properly. It's not that RF is not a place for Muslims; it's that it is not a place for those who won't defend their points.

So, bye.
The thread is going to be reopened, and the arguments will continue. They will just have to continue with politeness, and Muhammad could be in the Bible depending upon how the argument goes.

My opinion is that in the West people are unfamiliar with Muslims, and it is a challenge here on RF to get everybody to play nice. It is not against the rules to believe things that other people here don't believe.

RF's mission ought to be easy, but its hard. We just want people of different religions to be able to have an open communication channel period. Its Ok to debate about whether Muhammad is in the Bible. Its Ok to debate the Joseph Smith finds golden tablets. All of that is Ok in debate areas, and as long as everybody in the thread is civil and polite the thread remains open.

Except for the last line, I agree with this. Now matter what the attitude towards whatever religion, I'm against any religious proselytizing, especially this under the table type. Whether its the Muslims that pass through RF just to unload a bunch of threads about Deut. 18 and the "scientific" miracles of the Qur'an, or the Baha'i who play everybody's cards to promote their united religious order or whatever it's called; or Christians who ... well I think we all already know about that. And that Jewish guy who started going off about the "secrets of the kaballah are true!!!" is no exception. IMO RF is a place for conversation or debate, not a platform for spreading your religion.

I talk about Muhammad in the bible and the thread gets shut down. No worries. I am used to being hated. This will be my last post and ill never be back so congrats you won. You proved to be like the rest of the world.

responses do not have to be personal, or taken, personally.

the truth doesn't care if we're moslem, atheist, christian, or otherwise. those who seek it aren't seeking self-aggrandizement, or self-fulfilling hopes.

nothing personal.

I’m disappointed you are leaving. I thought the topic of the thread you started was excellent.

I see some are still using "funny" as a way of attacking someone's post in spite of the staff here saying that should not be done.

My opinion is that in the West people are unfamiliar with Muslims

I see that in spades. After 9/11, I spent a great deal of time reading various materials and opinions. I also know Muslims and have interacted with them on a personal level. Then I've paid attention to news stories showing how Muslims in various places have different understandings of Islam and act in different ways, just like members of other religions.

And I have spent a lot of time understanding how Sufis that follow Islam look on the religion and it's beliefs and rituals.

My conclusion is that Islam, like the other major religions has areas that I would call "sweet, clear flowing streams" and "fetid cesspools". And part of that conclusion is that Muslims, like all religious folk, find in their scriptures that which, for the most part, reinforces their biases.

This just proves that my religion is from G-d and you should all make me feel better about my beliefs by being convinced by my proof.

I'm sorry you have your thread gets shut down. I do wonder why yours is, or do others have the same problem.
I'm not allowed to post on the Christianity DIR because I was told I was proselytizing when I posted Scripture.
Seems odd to me that on a religious forum, which I like, that there is such a prohibition.
Jesus too taught that Christians would be hated at Matthew 10:22, so I look at that verse as Jesus being right.
So, is the ' you ' that you mentioned really the winner. Best wishes to you.

IMO RF is a place for conversation or debate, not a platform for spreading your religion.

Many religious folk believe theirs is the best religion and that the world would be a better place if others agreed with them. It's human nature.

So I compare/contrast those who proselytize from those who share their beliefs. The line can be grey sometimes, of course.

So to me it gets down to motivation. If someone posts here to make converts, that person has crossed the line. If someone posts as part of a conversation with the hope that people will agree and change their faith, then it's in bounds for RF.

You are allowed to post in religious debate areas as far as I know, but Dirs are not debate areas. The Christian Dir is for fellowship.

The fact that the thread was temporarily locked doesn't mean anyone hates you.
We are all on the receiving end of criticism now and then. Pretty much every member of this forum and any other forums out there has read something he/she didn't like, didn't agree with or found insulting. That's life. When we deal with other people we have to be mature enough to accept that that they have the right to have an opinion and to defend it with the arguments they see fit.

Given that RF is an English speaking website,
And comparing the numbers of English speaking Christians to English speaking Muslims,
It appears to me that RF is more uncomfortable to Christians, generally, than Muslims.

I also notice that there aren't an awful lot of Catholics here.

Personally I see Muhammad and the message of Islam is mentioned in the Bible and will support that view.

Personally on a religious debate forum I see people can moderate by not participating.

It is for discussion and debate but the internet is a universe of personalities so yes it’s inevitable this would happen but in his mind he is doing with the best of intentions.
