In light of recent staff discussions, it would be useful for the staff to know the percentage of active members who identify with each position on the political spectrum.

Please select the vote that best describes you. The votes are changeable so that you can modify yours if your opinions change at any point.

Since there are many possible combinations in the poll questions, I have added an option for those who don't find that any of the poll options accurately describe them. If possible, please make sure to elaborate on your vote in the thread if you choose "Other."

Thank you!

I am politically disgruntled with the idea of left and right and want to throw the whole system in the garbage, and let a group of toddlers draw a new one, preferably with crayons. (Why? Because I like crayons. That's why.)

As for religiously...I'm not sure how I can be left or right. I am a Hindu. I don't feel that can lean one direction or the other.

Simply posting this, as it was requested. :)

The interpretation of left and right varies by country. For example, most folks outside of the US would consider GOP right wing, and Democrats centrist. Within the US, I'm not so sure. How do US democrats consider themselves?

The GOP is right wing in America, but a lot of Democrats I think consider themselves left, even if it's kind of incorrect.

I don't know. I feel conservative but always test out liberal.

I answer whatever the questions are and usually get placed as a social anarchist.

Left but I’m from Australia and quite frankly both US parties look right leaning to me (GOP far more so.) I only say that since this site seems far more US based

On a chart with 1 being all left and 10 being all right, I'd be about a 4.

However, that's further left than Biden, probably as far left as Sanders, and many consider Sanders in America to be far left enough it's getting towards radical.

I'm a localist.

I'm of the opinion that scale of governance is far more important than left/centre/right ideology.

The larger the political unit, the more problematic it becomes, so I support decentralisation of 90% of governance to the local level with a few things left at the national/federal level (defence and foreign policy, some macroeconomic issues, etc).

That scale rarely enters into the political debate is one of our major failings. What can work at a municipal level is very different from what can work at a level of 200 million people.

I'd also select 50%+ of officials via sortition rather than election.

Implementing these policies would vastly reduce many of the most common complaints about modern politics from both right and left, and you can make a very good case for it from either progressive or conservative principles.

I put right because my social values mean more to me than my economic ones, which are leftist. My social values are pretty traditional and religiously inclined. I'm British.

Heh...I'm kinda the inverse. More left socially and more right economically.
We should go to war. I'm a little lazy today though.
