The interpretation of left and right varies by country. For example, most folks outside of the US would consider GOP right wing, and Democrats centrist. Within the US, I'm not so sure. How do US democrats consider themselves?
I wouldn't consider the Democrats centrist. They're solidly right wing, IMO. It's just that they're not as far right as the Republicans.

I'm not in favour of simple left/right questions, because life -- and my views -- are more complex than that.

I lean to the left (but not terribly far) when it comes to social assitance to those that need it, and in exercising some rules over corporate ability to cheat, or to harm our environment. I am a capitalist -- but not one who believes in totally unfettered capitalism. If corporations are indeed "persons" (a silly notion, by the way), then they should be subject to the same constraints that all other persons are subject to.

On matters of an individual's ability to choose her or his own path in life, so long as we don't harm others, I am something of a libertarian (small "l").

I chose ‘other’. Although very interested in politics and world affairs I have no allegiance to any political party and consider each issue on its own merits. I try to avoid partisan politics and attacking personalities instead preferring a principle based approach.

The original sense of "corporate personhood" is fine, IMO. Originally, it just meant that a corporation could own assets, enter agreements, and be sued all in its own name, separate from its shareholders.

Dems would be left and GOP would be centrist. IMHO

Funny thing -- the left in the US is to the right of the right in Canada, as a general rule. We are, though very close neighbours, wildly different countries.
