My parents, both in their 60s, are currently away (residing in another country). I have been quite concerned about their safety given that they have pre-existing conditions in addition to their age that places them among the highest-risk groups for COVID-19. It also worries me that, because I'm away, I can't buy stuff for them so they don't have to go out.

This has brought to mind the senior citizens on this forum as well. I hope you are all staying as safe as can be during these times and that you can get your needs without having to be physically close to many people due to all of the hoarding and selfish insanity going on right now.

Stay safe and keep us updated, please.

Thanks for the thoughts. I turn 70 this June. I hope and believe that your parents are doing the right things and staying as safe as possible. It would be the same if they lived anywhere else. It's the distance that makes you uneasy. I can understand that. In the mean time, they deserve to live the life they have chosen and enjoy, even if it might make you uncomfortable in current circumstances.

I'm doing ok. (I'm in my 50's.) Thanks for asking. One of my relatives in Idaho has come down with a case of Covid-19, though.

I'm 74 and doing OK so far, thank God. We'll see what the future brings my wife and me, but we're doing what we can to avoid the virus.

Turned 72 on Wednesday (April 1). Doing dandy, but thanks for your concern.

I actually go to work every day, because my firm is considered essential, and our systems have to be kept running. Still, I'm the only one there...behind locked doors, so I am totally isolated. I ride to work and back on a bus, but I travel at 6 AM and 3 PM when my bus usually has the driver and me, or once in a while 1 or 2 other people. I haven't been within 6 feet of anybody except my partner in 3 weeks, and by gum I hate it. But hate it or not, it's what we have to do...so let's all just do it!

As long as the electricity stays on, nobody has to push my "bumper car". And as long nobody has to push my "bumper car", I'm still in the game. But if the electricity gets turned off, I'm up ****-creek without a paddle, 'cause my wife and dog have already told me they're not going to push.

I'm 57, teaching from home. My wife is also 57 and working from home. So far, our county has 16 cases, but we go to the next one over for shopping, and it has had over 200 cases. So, we take what precautions we must and stay at home as much as possible.

I’m in my mid 50s and so have only recently accepted I’m now middle aged and no longer a young man. Other than being on a statin to lower my cholesterol my health is fine. When I retire and become overrun by health problems I might consider the senior citizen label.:D

Being an active participant in my community and family is a great distraction from thinking too much about myself.

When I go to the grocery store I wear a hazmat suit.

P.S. I've been thinking about your handle name, "Debater Slayer". I can just tell by your posts you are a master debater!

Thanks DB, no problem for our family, but great many people must be suffering in India. The State and Central governments are trying to do their best. So far we have been able to avoid a dooms-day scenario.

Thanks for your concern @Debater Slayer (a.k.a. DS2). I’m in my early 50s, and a type 1 diabetic since age 12, but doing well so far, and we’re doing what we can to avoid the virus.

Stay healthy.

I'm in my mid-fifties and I'm still out there working as I'm classified as essential personnel. I have diabetes and heart disease as well and already had made peace with my own mortality. It's good to still be out there doing things in a productive way.

For what it's worth, I still use proper PPE and maintain social distancing when possible and frequent hand-washing and using sanitizers and such.

There's actually still quite a few of us old guys out there working and I've been pleasantly surprised to see that I'm not the only one doing what they can to keep our society creaking along.

All the same, it is my sincerest hope your loved ones will be okay and will survive this crisis once it passes.

I'm 71, and have had blood pressure all my life, so just follow the isolation rules and enjoy every day.

Good luck to everybody and thank you DS for your kind thoughts.
