I have to keep turning the news off when it comes on as I find this so distressing. Whatever makes people do this I can not imagine.

How anyone can do these things to a poor innocent baby. I will never know! A mother I always find worst as well, I cant understand a woman not having a natural motherly instinct.

I understand her not having a natural motherly instinct, but this goes beyond that - it shows she didnt have any regular human empathy. Even if she cites abuse from her partner I would not have any sympathy for what she let happen to another living soul.

I'm always at a loss for words when I read news like this. It makes me wonder exactly what other people have wondered: what on earth could lead someone to do this to another human being, especially their own child?

I stopped reading at this point...
"the boy died despite being seen by care workers 60 times in eight months, is necessary to prevent a repeat of the tragedy, it is claimed."

60 times in 8 fricken' months? Good God, what were the people who reviewed the child's case thinking? I'd say that even 2 or 3 instances, where the authorities are called in, ought to set off rather loud warning bells.

You should have heard a spokesperson for the social care services try and get out of responsibility this morning. It was sickening. His answer was basically "we help a lot of kids, unfortunately some slip through the cracks" to which the agony aunt replied "how come these horrific cases, slip through and the children who may have just had one smack off a parent because they ran into a road be put into care!"

This is such a sad story :(:-

Baby P abuse case demands public inquiry, say campaigners - Telegraph

There is also a group on facebook for anyone interested:-

Search Names | Facebook

If the link doesnt work the group is called "RIP Baby P xxx"

I have heard she is pregnant again,i cannot read it', its diabolical, apparently they did'nt want to takee baby as it would infringe the Mothers rights, how coul she be called a Mother.
The photos and names on facebook of the so called parents should be seen by everyone in Britain.

I like it how everyone is backing this unfortunate wee fellow's right to a life & serious questions are being asked of everyone, even the top officials in the area are being pressurised to resign over the incident & the Prime Minister commented today too.

Sad thing is that if the earlier problems had been identified & acted upon, the case would not be highlighted & you would have run of the mill Junkie/stupid parents trying to get the child back through a legal process which would force the *parents* to be more responsible as they faced close legal scrutiny to get the kid back,or let the kid go.

It is a tricky situation which must be faced without fear or prejudice by those who are paid fortunes to ensure,in there experience, that such a situation does not repeat itself or be allowed too.

Say the father figure is a wee ****head,he gets beat up by someone & requires facial scaffolding to build up a kicked in face.If he is lying in bed, with a screaming baby beside him,he is going too smash the baby off of a wall to shut it up,it is as simple as that.

My first ever wee pal was murdered before his ninth birthday,he was found in a bin bag with a broken neck in Carentyne. They never found out who did it,but his father, who was always in & out of prison,*never drank again*.

I take Gregor to nursery, you see some parents shuffling around & many times it is the grandparents who care for the kids as the parents are incapable.

You hope that the mother has the ability to overcome herself in order to be some sort of useful individial.

For anyone who hits a kid,it is better for them that a millstone is hung around there neck & they are caste into the deepest ocean.Clamorous & turbulent lives or not.

I often think of my wee buddy, only heard he had been murdered 11 years after he had died as we were both moved from our area.He was cool & looks out for me still.

Wee baby P is a wake up call for everyone,so unfortunate the nation needs one now & again.:(

Better answers to better questions, creating better people in better societies with better politicians.

Depends Upon My Mood..
People have babies for the wrong reason..

They think the baby will "love them"..They want "something" to love them..

I havent read this "case" yet...Because I cant..

But we are all kidding ourselves if we dont realize MANY children are abused and neglected..that dont "die"..They are born to live a life of misery pain and fear..They are never loved or nurtured as youngsters..

Read "the Boy Called It" to get an idea..Thats a memoir...

And it doesnt even have to be this violent atrousious abuse...How many children have parents that emotional neglect abuse them?Children that behind closed doors are told they are hated?Should have never been born?..That they are stupid and worthless?

Sad...

Can't brain. Has dumb.
This story has been hugely followed in NZ for the past few months

Mum: convicted of mansalughter.
She didn't want to go into the room where baby Nia was, because she knew she looked bad and she didn't want to see her baby like that. "my partner wouldn't hurt her, never hurt her" (search around for her police interview on tape if you can to get her perspective, it's highly interesting

Dad: Convicted of murder

Uncle: Convicted of murder

What happened to Nia:
Kicked in the face to cause nosebleeds
Hung on the washing line and spun
Put in the dryer
Put in kitchen cupboards
Shoes thrown at her
The brothers practiced wrestling moves on her
Left on the roof for a day
Made to have a bath in cold water in winter

And that's only about half the list....

Nia Glassie case convictions

She was only 3 years old.

I get extremely angry and upset over this sort of news. It makes me feel quite sick. I don't watch the news anymore, or read newspapers. I feel so sorry for the poor kids at the receiving end of that sort of abuse. I can't even imagine or begin to understand the hell they must go through, or the mentality of the sick twisted individuals who do this... to CHILDREN.

Bless her little heart. That gorgeous smile. At least she'll never suffer again, neither will baby P. They are free.

There is a good in the Nia Glassie case, however.

It brought to light, to the entire country, the need to change our laws. And since then, we've had an introduction of a law where you may not over-discipline your child with physical force. A smack on the bum is ok, but a bruise is not for example.

While her loss is tragic, the flipside is an overall improvement in the welfare of all children in NZ. Perhaps that what she was brought to this earth for, to live her short life, and make everyone else stand up and pay attention to what's happening to some of our children.
