Why autoerotic?
Because it doesn't involve another person. It's something you do while masturbating.

I know it doesn't involve another person and that masturbation is involved, but if I'm not mistaken most suicides don't involve other people, which leaves the matter of assuming masturbation was involved. Why?

Oh, I'm just guessing. I don't really know. It was the first thing that came to mind when I heard he died of hanging. David Carradine and Michael Hutchence both died from autoerotic asphyxiation, too.

Suicide still strikes me as the sadder possibility...that's some pretty devastating pain to send him there.
Because his death is a shock (well, it is to me) and him being in a seated position with a belt around his neck kinda adds to the possibility since people who hang themselves in order to kill themselves usually do it from overhead and not with a belt tied to a doorknob. I'm not the only one to think it might've been that. People are talking about that all over the Internet now.
Robin Williams once said "Never get into a fight with an ugly person. They have nothing to lose!"

Im so very sad to hear the news of Robin Williams. It is truly a tragedy characteristic of modern times; a sobering and melancholic reminder of how broken a world we must live in for this person I associate so strongly with such happiness, laughter and childhood nostalgia to take his own life.
A collective sadness is felt as this light is extinguished and his burden solemnly lifted, yet ever more poignant is the awareness of the countless other lives who share in such silent suffering behind the closed doors of an insensitive and fast paced world.
The truth is one cannot presume to know another persons innermost reality, or what hurt might lie beneath the smiles. In remembering to bring such mindfulness and consideration to the way you treat all those around you would help make the world a better place and be some positive bit of grace that can be taken away from this tragic story.

First thought that crossed my mind too.
Some of my earliest childhood memories involved watching Mork & Mindy with my mother. Robin Williams has always reminded me somewhat of my Dad and is around the same age.
He had a gift and I appreciate the memories with my own family that revolved around his work.
