Heyo!

I'm a glutton for talking religio and so I decided to sign up when I heard the call from On High that ya'll were missing a Unitarian or three... Welp, you're getting a twofer as I am Eikas observin', katastematic pleasure feelin', Herculaneum decipherment anticipatin' Epicurean devotee; as well as, a newly minted Unitarian Universalist.

Aside from religion, I'm a huge music fan; Sparks, polka, trad folk, folk punk, Renato Carosone, Rat Pack, Stan Rogers; as well as, Jordi Savall and other Early Music. Anything that makes me laugh, smile, dance and/or takes my thoughts away from whatever the heck is going on these days. Throw out some music recommendations if it pleases you, as I am always on the lookout for something that marries fun lyrics with fun music.

I look forward to fine discussion and lively parley, and with any luck a few laughs along the way.

Beautiful!

Another polka fan!

My ethnicity comes from Poland and Germany, so I'm a mixed breed LOL

I fondly remember the Big Joe Polka Show. I loved that show until his tragic death , but a lot of his old shows are still on YouTube and one of my favorite bands of all time are those two cuties, from the Adolf Nimitz Orchestra.

the heck has been around for all. the time. you have a nice view on life. enjoy some indian music, this is a film classic.
the scene is like this: the lady is interested in music. the man likes the girl but is not at all musical but he has musician friends. the teacher of the lady also has designs on the lady. the two are challenged. the man is only lip-synching, while his friend sings from behind. whatever be the depiction and the scene, the song became a classic because of its hilarious music.

Well, welcome to RF -- despite your questionable musical taste.
...and how do you play that tiny accordion? I can't even text without hitting three or four letters at a time.

I loved that polka! I remember hearing it way back when I went down some polka rabbit holes but lost track of it. Thanks so much!

I'll have to check out some more Big Joe! That was great! I'm a new and enthusiastic Polka convert, but Stanky and the Coal Miners and Frankie Yankovic are some of my favorites from way back. They just had some wonderful energy! Always on the look out for topshelf polkas!

I come from a dread-ful, individualistic, (not meaning to be pejorative with either of these) cultural context, and polka is one way for me to express radical, communal joy. This kind of music was about long dormant forms of community that have been pretty much absent in my context. It's... pretty great actually!

I really enjoyed that. I'll have to explore this some more. Thanks so much!

Hello, and welcome to RF. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum.
I grew up with a Beatlemaniac for a Mum! Listening to The Beatles is some mixture of Church and 'going home' for me. Thanks for the warm greetings!

Ok you want different music as well ... Ok, here is a couple.
Very Wurzel's esque with that first one!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

Speaking of Frankie, he was with Big Joe as well! Enjoy!

Show starts with "Just Because" with the man himself.....
