Romney strapped dog carrier to top of his car

Gene, I'm sure he tested the carrier and how well the dog tolerated the ride.

I had a Rottweiler that was kept in a small cage for several hours a day and the dog tolerated it well. She would just take a nap. I lived in Miami at the time and it got too hot for her to be outside during the worst time of the day. She stayed inside the house in the air conditioning, but was to distructive to have full roam of the house.

There are plenty of folks I know who have Coon Hounds and they are transported in very small carriers in the back of pickup trucks. They love to jump in the contaniers because they know they are going to get to go hunting when they are loaded.

Mitt Romney is a fine man and would make a great leader for our country. I trust his judgement with his dog as well as with this country.

The attitudes about his decision with his dog is exactly why I know I do not want any Liberal Democrats ever being in control of this country. I wonder how much deeper folks would have looked to find any dirt on Mitt. I can see it now, he hit his sister when he was eight.

Well, if you had been a paper boy or a pizza delivery dude, you would know why I don't have a lot of empathy for dogs...

I guess you've never seen a dog tear into flesh or had a dog tear into your flesh like there's no tomorrow...

I have sympathy for some dogs and others no sympathy whatsoever...

So if a Christian is being beaten in an alley, I should have no sympathy because some of them have been nasty to me in the past. Gotcha. :slap:

How do you know the dog's life was at risk?

The Romney's had a car full of kids and luggage, there was no room for a dog inside. It sounds like they made as safe a cage as they could for the dog. I fail to see how you can claim that this is animal abuse.

Then leave it with someone else, or hire a pet transport service. Romney was vice-president of a consultant firm. I'm sure he could have fit the bill.

As a kid I bought a motorcycle so I could out run the twin doberman pinchers who would wait for me, they still kept up with me so I'ld stop and yell at them and that would unexpectedly scare them and they would take off, but they made my blood boil, they would have torn me to shreds...

Can't forget the story a while back when a pitbull attacked and mutilated a young woman who was desperately trying to get into her apartment...

I'm all for protection of kind animals, but as for those who want to tear humans to shreds....

Or, maybe he actually loved his dog and wanted it to join them on their family vacation and so he made a nice safe cage for it to ride in so they wouldn't have to leave it with some stranger.

If Mitt was so neglectful and abusive towards his dog why did he take the time to build a special windshield to protect it during the trip?

Do I really need to drag out an arsenal of "hero dog" stories? Man's best friend, FFH, come on now.

To some of us, possible animal abuse is a bigger issue than publicity thieves trying to denounce a former soldier's service. It's not our fault society still thinks of animals as objects and not living beings. But, I suppose it's sadly to be expected when you consider all the abuse they must suffer due to our consumerism and oil aspirations. :)

I'm just saying that dogs are tougher than we give them credit for...

Personally, I find this more disturbing,
http://www.reason.com/news/show/121088.html

Romney has Robert Lichfield and Mel Sembler on his campaign. Two men who founded programs for troubled adolescents with notorious histories of abuse.

Police in Mexico have shut down three WWASP-linked facilities: Sunrise Beach (1996), Casa By The Sea (2004) and High Impact (where police videotaped the teens chained in dog cages).

Although it has settled several lawsuits out of court, the organization has never publicly admitted wrong-doing. However, the U.S. State Department spurred Samoa to investigate its Paradise Cove program in 1998 after receiving “credible allegations of physical abuse,” including “beatings, isolation, food and water deprivation, choke-holds, kicking, punching, bondage, spraying with chemical agents, forced medication, verbal abuse and threats of further physical abuse.” Paradise Cove closed shortly thereafter. That same year, the Czech Republic forced the closure of WWASP-linked Morava Academy following employees’ allegations that teens were being abused.

Either Romney is willfully ignorant or one of the more frightening candidates we have to choose from.

Someone with so little concern for the welfare of others is probably also not going to be concerned about having an affair.

Romney is the one of the only candidates that has ONE wife for many years; I highly doubt that he would less concerned about an affair. This is ONE incident people. Let me ask you, have you ever made a stupid mistake? No one is perfect and I know most of you that are angry over this weren't going to vote for him in the first place (I am not either), but getting angry over one stupid mistake that happened over 20 years ago?

I didn't hear about it 20 years ago, I heard about it last night. Had I heard about it when it had happened, I'd be over it by now, but it's still kind of fresh at the moment, and I can't help that my first instinct is "***?!"

Edit: I can't say that?! It's not even a word! :areyoucra

It bothered me as well, but then I thought about it. Has anything similar happened sense then? No. Then why am I worrying? He is not an abuser of animals; he made a bad mistake over twenty-years ago and hasn't done it again. It would be more concerned if it was a repeatable offense.
