Roseanne Barr, X and Freedom of Speech

Very good point. Just because if that, ✳️ out should not be used, as it creates hypocrisy

Perfect analogy

Vultures seems appropriate too, imo

Exactly my idea also ... "Give them bread and play", well, soon they might replace bread with GMO food, take them more away from the Divine,
The asterisk is obsolete then. There is something about them that make a sentence funnier than if they had to allow the full word in. Maybe that it is hinting at something rather than being blunt?

The polarised landscape of American politics does cater to vultures. And they chuck a peace of meat between in the masses so they can be diverted from actual issues.

Yes...the whole video.
No...she's smart.
By the way...considering that I live in the Mediterranean area, which was destabilized because of Obama's choices, don't ask me to defend Obama, please.
No, she is clearly not "smart". She may have been at one point in time but she became a braindead Karen not too long ago. I do not know what happened to her. Perhaps she suffered from an undiagnosed stroke. And I am not asking you to defend Obama. I am merely telling you the facts. No one really cares about her. No one is keeping tabs on her. Those are the ravings of one with paranoia and other mental disorders.

As to whether Obama destabilized the Mediterranean or not sounds very dubious to me. You would need several reliable sources if you want to make that claim.

Yeah. I am of firm belief that some comments are just absolutely sacrilegious and worthy of a thumbs down.
I'm not much for the gimmicky icon social credit score that some forums like using emojis, but I'm not any kind of a snowflake where that kind of thing bothers me at the least.

Not like YouTube for example where they entirely hide it away because of the fear somebody sensitive might become all wrapped up over it if it is seen in public.

I'll gladly accept your thumbs down with great honor and a high five!

Good for you. You have thick skin.

I for one used always check my score on RF score and was super happy when it increased at the beginning. It made me feel like the popular kid. All these years later I am still trying to breach that 2000 mark. But... i fear my remarks are not so popular these days. I might have to suck up a bit harder to get some likes.

Just FYI: since Musk took over twitter, fake news and misinformation on the platform has surged exponentially.

Today, it is BY FAR the biggest spreader of fake news / misinformation of ALL social media platforms.

Say what you will about his motivation for taking it over (only he really knows). The fact of the matter is that the platform was MUCH better off before he turned it into a cesspool of misinformation and unchecked fake news and hate speech.
You cannot have free speech without allowing people their opinion and right to be wrong. Elon Musk understands this and he understands the tyranny of a small oligarchy have authority to dictate what is and is not truth. You truth could be a dreadful lie to me and vice versa. But free speech allows both of us to speak our mind.

X believes in free speech. Most Republicans believe in free speech.
These days most on the left think THEIR speech, THEIR version of the 'truth', is the only speech that should be allowed.

Those of us who think all opinion should be allowed to be heard are free speech advocates. Nobody else is.

Off topic but curious: how do you check your RF score? (I'm new here.)

There you go. I made my contribution for ya!

Scoring systems don't mean much to me. I think it's more important to have the ability to say your piece whether people like it or not.

I think the practice of putting silly icons on people's posts are basically an indoctrination scheme for people to eventually accept social credit scores in their lives much like Communist China does with its people, where a low score can have actual repercussions and a high score can have benefits and perks by the government.

So I don't let something like icons influence or control me as to what to say and what not to say. I just say what I feel on my own viewpoints and opinions, and don't let silly things like that ever bother me.

Besides people manipulate that stuff like that with the frubal orgy here right here on RF years ago, whom by such engauged debauchery, pretty much ended the frubal scheme by that dastardly poster who had started it all!

I've never been a fan of Roseanne Barr. I never thought she was funny or entertaining.

She was booed during her disrespectful rendition of the National Anthem. She really got a lot of flak over that.

Do you honestly believe she intended to be disrespectful? As she has never been known to be a singer, I can't imagine why she was put in that position, but I don't think it was out of disrespect for anything.

And certainly we all have our tastes, but I personally think her comedy is brilliant. But that's just me.

As far as her views on the Satanic content of media, I haven't ever come at it from that perspective, but I can't say I now it to be untrue either. Something is certainly 'rotten in Denmark' in American media these days so who knows?

I totally agree with Roseanne here,

After all... Roseanne Barr stands for freedom of thought and her outspokenness is a treasure that was inspiring for many voters who decided to vote for Trump.

And it seems to me that Obama stands for the negation of freedom of speech...freedom of thought...and freedom of comedy.

and we do know that Harris would have been a continuation of Obama's mandate. His fourth mandate.
You're a born stand-up performer.

Yaaaay! I have almost reached 2000 points! Thanks! You deserved a courtesy frube.

So whereas as I would agree with you, I would say that the frubes bring a charm to this site and it has gone a long way in connecting with people on the platform. Often a time a friendly frube relieves animosity towards another poster. You also see who aligns more with your viewpoints and who is on the opposite side. But you also see how people are supportive on the forum.

The point system is the weird aspect of it though. I dont see the purpose of it besides encouraging a person to post for the sake of getting reactions.

I used to be on the list of the posters with the most frubals, and I was proud of that. Since falling off, I've realized that it's mostly a vain popularity thing and it doesn't really matter in the long run. Especially when people are misusing the reactions to mock people. (I see the "creative" one being used in what comes off as being mocking a lot nowadays. I'd really rather they not interact with my post at all if that's how it's going to be.)

It's funny, probably pun intended, that people get so wound up over the funny icon as well!

It just goes to show you how people get controlled by these things and why the social credit score in Communist China is so effective. Public shaming and adoration by icon is not really my thing , nor do i put any real stock into it, it means nothing and has absolutely no influence in my life so I just ignore the whole silly setup and treat it at best as only a novelty.

Most important is a person's ability to say their piece and not being censored over it regardless on how popular or unpopular others may think of it.

There's a line between free speech and the massive spread of fake news.
In today's digital age, the lines between actual fact-checked news reporting and misinformation have become incredibly blury.

And the fact of the matter is that this massive spread of fake news and misinformation, under the umbrella of "free speech", has become a threat to society as we know it.

I'm all for free speech. But I am very much against the abuse of such rights in order to push certain damaging narratives literally meant to destroy society from within, to manipulate public opinion, etc.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but facts are facts. When people present their opinions as facts while they aren't facts, then that is a problem.
I'm not advocating for only allowing a specific opinion. I don't care about opinions. I care about facts.

And the current massive, at times very deliberate, spread of misinformation is one of the biggest threats our 21st century secular society faces.

So yes, I very much feel like those who run the platforms that are being abused to wage this, what-I-can-only-call, psychological warfare, have very much a responsibility to counter it.
