Roseanne??

Why is that?
I personally liked her brand of politically incorrect humor. I think she got a raw deal over one fairly ordinary tweet.
I used to like her show, although I didn't see it often since I don't watch TV. The one episode of the new reboot I saw was, if anything, annoyingly PC. Roseanne had to befriend the Pakistani Muslims next door because her internet was shut off for nonpayment and the Muslims had the only WiFi signal strong enough to connect to her home.

I just don't see what the big deal with that one tweet was. If she were black it wouldn't have mattered much, of that I am sure.

Well, she got fired. If she didn't know what her limits would be with her employer, then now she knows. Are you saying ABC had no right to fire her and should have respected her first amendment right?

I honestly don't know if she truly meant to be racist but there's no doubt in my mind that it was meant to be offensive.

We need to reset the standard on both the left and the right. It shouldn't be OK to be offensive especially if the intent was to be offensive. Kathy Griffin is a good example of offensive behavior and deserved her firing.

Maybe Barr shouldn't have been fired and at least reprimanded. However, she was pushing her bounds with her history of tweets. This isn't the first time she compared another person to an ape. ABC isn't exactly Comedy Central where their comedians are defended for their jokes. For the most part, ABC is a family friendly corporation being owned by Disney...

Cacotopia

Let's go full Trottle
I never watched any of her shows. I never thought she was all that funny.

Star Trek was a much better show, and Whoopi played Guinan on Star Trek. Her homeworld was destroyed by the Borg, but she was able to escape and make it to Earth and become a talk show host.
How would you know she isn'y funny if you never watched her shows?

Generally comedians joke a lot on late-night talk show appearances. Also like Seinfeld, Roseanne is a very popular show that it's hard to at least not catch glimpses of from time to time, even without watching an actual episode.

Her personality comes off immediately as grating to me, personally. It's like raw abrasiveness without wit. Seinfeld is a lot more likeable, and much funnier to me.

I agree with the OP though, just writing her off as a horrible human being isn't the answer. Based on her public statements month after month, she really seems like she has some kind of serious disturbance. Just tearing her into the mud won't help with that, she could use a bit of sympathy amidst the criticism.

Seems that I keep getting Rosie and Roseanne mixed up....guess I'm not watching enough of the boob-tube
That's nothing to be ashamed of. xD They're similar personalities anyway, O'Donnell just mixes a bit less kookiness in with her needless abrasion. And just a bit.

but I think I'm really spending to much time on social media....about 10 min a day
Good idea. Too much pointless celebrity drama isn't good for anyone, and "too much" honestly hovers close to "any."
