Just another update to keep the thread going:
I finally have insurance and have been to the doctor. He thinks he knows what the problem is and put me on a couple of medications. Within a week I could tell a significant difference in how irritated my bronchi got.
I started running again about two weeks ago, trying to pick up where I left off (I stopped once it got cold outside because it would irritate my breathing more). I started with 7 mins run, 30 secs walk x 4 to equal 30 minutes. I managed to jog for the whole 30 minutes the next session. All with negligible irritation to my lungs. Yesterday was my longest and fastest run yet. I managed to run the 30 minutes at an increased pace with about three short, higher-speed intervals throughout. I ran a longer distance than usual and kept running until about 40 minutes because I was feeling good. The park I run at is supposed to have a 1.2 mile trail and I did it twice plus some.
Considering the unusual extra exertion, longer time and ~50 degree temperature outside, my lungs were about as sore as they had been when I first started and only ran slowly about 4 minutes on, 1 minute off x 6 (at around 70 degree weather).
Basically, im just super happy and excited that it looks like im going to be able to run with no problems and feel like telling people about it Still gonna moderate myself, but it looks like I wont have such a problem with my health. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to take up running because it it.
