Anyone on this forum worship Baba and visit any of his mandirs? Has anyone here been to Shirdi by any chance and would have any nice stories to tell??

Namaste,

Yes, I went to Shirdi to offer oblations (there is still some Smriti in me nonetheless). Drank Soma all the way there from Gujarat, and all the way back to Gujarat. It was pretty fun. Very popular place. But, nowhere near as popular as Tirupati which gets 500,000 visitors daily.

Good to see you know such things. Yes my father (not sure if that makes me) is a Kashmiri Pandit.

edit; that's why I mentioned earlier that I am a Saraswat Brahmin

Namaste,

Well, if you are a Saraswat Brahmin, it is your duty to learn recitations of the Holy Shri Shruti Sama Veda according to your community. And, if your father is a Kashmiri Pandit, then you are as well, if I am correct, not that this topic definitively matters.

Had to bring this thread back up. It looks like there is not any Sai Baba worshippers as I wished there were. Anyone believe in Sathya Sai Baba since Shirdi Baba didn't get a large response

Namaste,

Sathya Sai Baba. The homie with the funky hair. I think he was a Shaiva while Prabhupada was a Vaishnava. I don't know, hehe.

He was a universalist. Just look at some of the literature.

Sathya Sai Baba was reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba

i know some shirdi sai baba devotees who would strongly disagree with this

btw, I am not a worshipper of shirdi sai baba, but regarding the promises he made -
4] My tomb shall bless and look to the needs of my devotees.
5] I shall be active and vigorous even from my tomb.
6] My mortal remains would speak from my tomb.

i'm wondering why he would reincarnate if he said that he would be active from his tomb

To be quite honest I do not worship Sathya but I do worship Shirdi Baba. I agree with you because in the Sai mandir I visit not a single photo of Sathya Baba is posted anywhere so I guess that indicates that. These are Sai's 11 promises:

1] Whoever puts his feet on Shirdi soil, his sufferings would come to an end.
2] The wretched and miserable would rise into plenty of joy and happiness, as soon as they climb the steps of my Mosque.
3] I shall be ever active and vigorous even after leaving this earthly body.
4] My tomb shall bless and look to the needs of my devotees.
5] I shall be active and vigorous even from my tomb.
6] My mortal remains would speak from my tomb.
7] I am Ever living to help and guide all, who come to me, who surrender to me and who seek refuge in me.
8] If you look at me I look at you.
9] If you cast your burden on me, I shall surely bear it.
10] If you seek my advice and help, it shall be given to you at once.
11] There shall be no want in the house of my devotees.

I personally haven't and don't.

To be honest, I'm a little skeptical on taking a guru; especially ones where they are worshipped/revered as much as (if not more than) the gods by their followers. I also don't like the idea of putting all of my spiritual trust into another human. I will certainly look into another's teachings for inspiration, but I will not surrender my love for seeking and knowledge to another human.

Sorry if that's a little dramatic, but that is how I feel.
