"The dog, which you saw before meals and to which you gave the piece of bread, is one with Me; so, also the other creatures (cats, pigs, flies, cows etc.) are one with Me. I am roaming in their forms. He, who sees Me in all these creatures, is my beloved. So, abandon the sense of duality and distinction and serve Me as you did today."
SAI BABA AND FOOD

OM JAI SAI NATH

Salutations to thee, O sweet Baba. :rainbow1:

Thou art Love Supreme, Brahman in human form , all pervading consciousness without any duality, seeing oneness in all beings, and teaching the same to all to come out of the limited sense of separativeness and ego.

Thou art Love Itself in human form, with deep compassion for the suffering creatures of the world steeped in illusion and maya.

Thou art Wisdom Itself in human form, purifying the world of the deep stains and scars of the ego and unconsciousness, through love, patient instruction and example.

Blessed are those who lived with you, blessed are those who knew you, and blessed are those who loved you and served you.

And blessed is the world to have had your lotus feet walking gently on it, spreading love and peace in all four directions, to all beings. :flower:

Jai Shree Sai Nath,:flower:

I'm a ginormous Sai fan but I only read English so I'm often cheated out of the joy of the words.

I would like to clarify the beliefs of Shirdi Sai Baba

I read that Sai Baba is short for Sahib Baba and that he engaged in namaz but would not practice sawm.

I hear he ate meat and was buried as opposed to cremated.

However, I see that he taught the Qu'ran and Hadiths to Muslims and he Geeta to Hindus.
and he named his Mosque Dwarka or Raam

So perhaps he was like a religious teacher during his time and he taught people who at the time were illiterate.

This sounds very similar to Guru Nanak too; I am surprised you do not get Sikhs who believe in Sai Baba as you get Hindus who believe in Sikh Gurus. Lest that be Hindu Punjabis who do so out of shared culture.

As for Satya Sai Baba I am skeptical, especially after seeing the documentary. Plus I hear people were killed and he was protected by the government????

The Dwarika Sankaracharya says Sai Baba or any other Baba should not be worshiped as a God (Swami Sahajananda, Puttaparthi Sai and Osho being other examples. However worshiping Nithiyanand of Maha Nirvani Akhada or Asaram or his son, Narayan, is OK). :)

Lol that's too bad I couldn't care less about what he thinks. ;)

In my opinion, it's okay to worship God within individuals, similar to the meaning of 'Namaste, or Naskaram, but not to worship the person. Then it's a personality cult. I don't know enough about how the devotees in this case view it.

That Ekadashi Baba gave Dada Kelkar some money to bring meat. Dada Kelkar was devout Brahmin and always followed Vedic rituals, but still Baba made him bring this meat.

Let him worship Sai Baba in peace, since when Hindus care about their neighbour's ishta or judge another hindu by the deities on his shrine ? You do not agree ? Well, he worship Him anyway. Do what ? Is there going to be 4 pages of Sai bana bash-Sai baba love-bash-love-bash again ?

Hindus are very specific about Dashavataras. The last, Kalki will come after 427,000 years. It cannot be otherwise. Why not worship Jesus in that case? In case one is 'advaitist', then even a dog is an avatara. Why should some one be special? In that case, worship a dog.

Not every sampraday believe in avataras, and I don't see any more problem paying homage to Bhairava's dogs than Krishna's cows or Shiva's bull.

It is not my point.

My point is, scolding or challenging sb's beliefs here is bullying. Because it is not the intend of the trezd, nor it is allowed in the DIR. If you want to keep debating about this, then it would be way wiser to open a tread in same faith debates, before the mods come in this tread AGAIN to delete those posts and distribute warnings.

Now I am out of here since sai baba worship is none of my concern.

That Ekadashi Baba gave Dada Kelkar some money to bring meat. Dada Kelkar was devout Brahmin and always followed Vedic rituals, but still Baba made him bring this meat.

Would any sane Hindu follow Sai Baba, who was always practicing islam and staunch muslim, and who insisted on removal of Lord Krishna pious murti from Bihari ji’s temple to replace with his illness ridden dead body.

Votaries of the Devas go to the Devas (gods); to the Pitrs (ancestors), go their votaries; to the Bhutas (demons), go the Bhuta worshippers; My votaries too come unto Me……That’s why they attain Moskha; renouncement from birth-death cycles.

Nice to see the context for the intuitive promptings that brought me back.

What about Durga, who is fond of meat Herself !

There is a mantra for Her... which goes like...

Om Mamsapriyah Namah

Shirdi Sai practiced a syncretism of Hinduism and Islam , and as such He practiced the rituals and rules of both.

Many of the lower castes in Hinduism themselves takes meat, due to the demands of their profession which requires rajas. Shirdi sai did the same, and note that he mixed mainly with the lower castes and common people, who were shunned from the temples at those times.

Seeing his many miracles, the upper castes started coming to Him as well and following him and worshipping Him . It is but natural.

Instead of looking at his superficial negatives, start looking at his substantial positives for a change. You too might get benefitted for the better, perhaps.

PranAm, I've found this on Internet.

I think Avatars are beyond the distinction of Hindu, Muslim, etc.. With Hindus He is a proponent of Hinduism. With Muslims He is a proponent of Islam (and they eat meat under Islamic regulations).

Don't fully understand why he is revered in Hinduism. He prayed like a Muslim.

I see he taught religion to both Hindu and Muslim though. Perhaps a religious teacher for those who were illiterate?
