Satanism is Christianity?

To be a satanist, wouldn't you have to believe that most of what happened in the bible to be true? I mean, satan is a part of christianity. So isn't satanism really just a sect of christianity?

That would not be my evaluation. We can call JW's and LDS Christian sects, but classical Satanists are pretty much hedonists that completely reject Christianity. Perhaps they would not be called "Satanists" if Christianity did not exist.

To be a Christian you have to take the name of Christ upon you, hense the name Christian. To be a Christian you not only need to have the belief in Christ, but you need to follow His precepts. I don't think satanists follow the precepts of Christ.

Are you a Buddhist because you believe his teachings to be true or because you follow his principles?

Okay, the point I was trying to make was that you can not be a Christian unless you follow it's priciples.
Christianity requires the act of faith, making Jesus Lord of your life in all things not just belief.

Im just saying that since it probably would not have arose if there were no christians and it believes most of the events in christianity than it could possibly be considered some strange sect. Thats all.

The Jewish faith also follows the old testament. Actually, it is believed that many of the modern day religions follow the same God, but we seem to differ when it comes to Jesus or other prophets.

So, with that in mind, a Satanist could believe any one of those religions.

But, as others have stated, being a Christian means following Christ. You cannot follow Christ and worship Satan.

So, the simplest of answers to your question is no, being a satanist does not mean you are a Christian.

I would agree with you in the case of some Satanists I've been lucky enough to chat to, but on the whole I find that Christianity misunderstands the origins of Satanism. Most reject God's existence or believe God is not what Christians believe he is.

On the whole usually a completely different system of beliefs.

Umm, I never thought it was.

This thread was never meant to be bashing chrisianity or satanism. I was just asking a simple question.

Satanists worship Satan whether they believe he exists or not. Christians worship Christ/God. Satan has always wanted to take worship away from God and on himself. This is why he was cast out of Heaven. Whether a satanist believes in God, or the Bible, or satan, or anything does not change the fact that what they are doing is following satan, in "do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law." Witchcraft, either white or black magic, is condemned by God as an abomination and all gets its power from satan whether they admit it or not. Sorcerers, necromancers, channellers, fortunetellers, crystal ball gazers, mediums, practicers of divination, astrology, wizards, witches, etc. all get their powers from satan, whether they admit it or not, and all this is an abomination to the Lord. That is the Bible truth. Dabble in the occult, with the tarot, astral-projection, and all the other stuff, and you will get burned by it. Trust in the Lord God of the Bible, in Jesus Christ, that is the only way that leads to life.

See the Satan you believe in and the Satan they believe in, are two seperate entities.... which was my point (and the point of others' posts. If you'd actually bothered to read them that is.

Most Laveyian(Sp?) Satanists don`t worship Satan.

Satan is an icon for their ego or ID if you will.

Satanism in it`s most popular form is merely extremely sarcastic atheism to put it far too simply.

I think Lavey chose the term "Church of satan" for it`s shock vlaue towards Christians.

You can tell from the results of this thread that it seems to have worked and worked well.

Weren't the 3 wise men astrologers? Didn't moses perform sorcerery? I mean turning sticks into snakes, starting plagues and parting seas? Fortunetellers? Wasn't the bible full of prophets? Oh wait that's right it's only evil when it suites christian interpretation.
