Man beheaded for torturing wife to death in Saudi Arabia: reports | NDTV.com

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia today beheaded a man convicted of torturing his wife to death, in the first execution since the start of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, state media said.

Saudi Arabia is most known for its usage of beheading as a form of execution. The last known European country to do this was France in 1977 with tis execution of Hamida Djandoubi.

Apparently Saudi Arabia does serve justice with its implementation of decapitation as the most severe judicial punishment.

Express your thoughts on Saudi Arabia's execution in this matter of severe spousal abuse

It seems there's something of a move within KSA to tackle domestic abuse and domestic crime. There's already been the first Saudi TV campaign and poster series, so who knows, this might signal the start of change in the country.

Emotionally, I agree fully with the type of justice administered. Intellectually, I don't... but my stance on the death penalty in general (regardless of administration) isn't all that firm since I don't have enough information.

But in both cases, I'm glad that any kind of justice was served.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
While I don't always condone executions personally, Im reminded of quotes by way that it has to be done sometimes.

Apparently his death was easier and more humane than the one he had givin to his wife.

I wouldnt condemn or approve the Saudi goverment's action in this case, i think a good number of people would not criticize the outcome here.

In the KSA all execution most occur within a week of sentencing.
I have no issues with beheadings but what I do have an issue with is the reasons the KSA has such as apostasy or witchcraft. Decapitating a man on chop chop block(Executions are often public) for torturing his wife is fine but decapitating a man for leaving Islam or being accused of wizardry is entirely stupid.

You should. His society taught him that women are property to be used as he saw fit, and then killed him for doing exactly that.

I dont have much sympathy for anyone who treats woman as property :p. But I dont want them to be treated as less then human either. So I am in a kind of interesting position where I disapprove of the beheading on principle but just cannot bring myself to care about his fate, lol.
