Say Something Nice

thomas t

non-denominational Christian
This may be the ultimate challenge for some. I'd like you to....

Say something nice about another religion. If you're atheist, say something nice about any religion.

Try to do so without 'buts' or snide jokes added in after. Just be genuinely nice if you can.

Anything will do. Appreciation of a religious structure, music, teaching or tradition... all of it(or anything) works.

What have you got for me?
since I so often criticise Muslims, let me say something nice:
I love their music.
Have you ever listened to that one here? It's Sufi music:

It's absolutely fantastic.
I also went to a Ramadan party once, and the women really know how to dance. They came from Tunisia mostly.

Yep, they are a strange bunch. On the one hand they have the most archaic rules and rituals, on the other hand the Jewish people have brought forth the most brilliant scientists. Given their small number, they just dominate the list of Nobel laureates.

3,000 years of near universal literacy has given the Jews a head start intellectually. 3,000 years of persecution has taught them humility.

And have you ever met a Jew without a sense of humour? I haven’t. Sometimes I think they really are the Chosen people.

Their God tells Christians not to kill, but they don't have the faith to follow their own God. With this handicap, they project the false image of caring.

And have you ever met a Jew without a sense of humour?

An imam, a priest and a rabbit walk into a blood donor clinic to give blood.
The nurse says to the rabbit "OK I'll do you first. What blood type are you?"
The rabbit replies "I think I must be a Type O."

I like all religions, but I particularly admire non-partisan social service. In my city Catholic Social Services probably does as much as any other charity to help those in need. There are also downtown churches like the Mustard seed that run hostels and homeless shelters. And who can ignore the Salvation Army church charity?

Some Protestant denominations practice a sense of community that encompasses all activities, providing excellent programs from kids to adults.

Granted, I've never read the Baha'i scriptures, but every time someone of the Baha'i Faith has posted some of them, I've found them extremely beautiful and inspiring!

I absolutely love visiting Catholic cathedrals. They are always so awe-inspiring. I could just sit in one and meditate for hours.

In secular society, I would be considered "conflicted" between religion and science. But I see no reason not to reconcile the two in my own way. I've always been enchanted with the Japanese religious forms, and traditional koto music to go with it seems befitting of such an articulate society. But Eastern forms are just some of many in the world, which I'd like to understand more.

Even in a thread dedicated to trying to unify folks, you just could not resist some Christian bashing?
