Saying Goodbye, Officially, To My Old Faith

Tonight I did something I have been scared to do.

I kept in my possession books, holy cards, statues...things that I had when I was a Catholic. Even though I walked away from Catholicism and Christianity in general, there was something...something that felt wrong about getting rid of old things. But, tonight I finally did. If I am going to move on in my deconstruction and in my faith, I have to let old things go.

I feel good. I feel cleansed. Like I can finally move on.

Things are a great start to any mental programming, which is likely more important, as that can cause a lot of confusion. I still have 'the country' in me, from the apt saying, 'you can take the boy from the country, but not the country from the boy' . A couple of times a year, I get great comfort from returning home to rural. But that's not the same as religion, where you're more likely to return to discomfort.

Just wondering where you're going to. I was born into a religion and examined other religions but nothing really made sense to me although culturally and religiously I was Jewish. I eventually became an atheist but later on needed God and prayed to know Him. I needed a force stronger than myself and the people (experts) around me. He showed Himself to me (spiritually, of course). It was a long process. May God bless you as you continue.
