School board meeting in North Carolina about a book

I don't seem to have taken it the way you have.

I think she's talking about as children grow up into adulthood, that they should know they have the right to have sex with whomever they choose, based upon consent . Let's face it here, we're not teaching children sex ed so they can have sex as children. Rather, we're teaching it to them to prepare for life as they grow into adulthood and beyond.

Okay, explain me this sentence then:
Tienen el derecho en saber que ningun adulto puede tocarles si ellos no quieren,

Which means: They have the right to know that no adult can touch them unless they want them to.

I think that means exactly what it says. It can refer to any type of touching like hugs, pats on the shoulder, a handshake, whatever. I often find it strange that people feel free to touch pregnant women's bellies without even asking them first, for example. I wouldn't much like that, if it were me.

Are you under the impression that every touch from an adult to a child is sexual in nature?

Yes. In Spanish touching is used as euphemism for sexual act.

If I say in Spanish: Leonardo se acuesta con todas y a mi ni siquiera me quiere tocar.

Tocar
means to have sex here.

Because you've used it in a specifically sexual way ...

Leonardo sleeps with everyone and he doesn't even want to touch me

When I look up the word, I get this:

Spanish to English

tocar

The definition seems pretty broad to me.

As said to me the other day in another forum....
"These kids that we have to teach and remind not to eat crayons, boogers and tide pods, are they really ready and at the age to learn about sex, gender, LGBTQIA, etc."
Many things get said.
Give no cromulence to the dumb ones.

So lets start them on physics at 5 right?
They start about physics a lot earlier than that. Learning about weight, balance, gravity, and physical properties of materials. They learn abstract physics, like object permanence, causality, outcome prediction, volume and weight conservation, numerancy, &al. Even at five -- or ten -- a lot of cognitive operations that seem obvious to adults have yet to develop.

I tend to agree with the man about "if you don't want to hear it".

Watch the 3 1/2 minute video then give your thoughts

Here's what I can gather:

- a school under the Asheville City School Board lists one copy of this book in its posession. I can't find any details about where in the school it's supposed to be (in circulation in the library? On the school nurse's shelf? Dunno).

- Asheville City School Board actually allows anyone to file an objection to any book with controversial material that the Board provides to students. It's unclear to me whether Mr. Amanchukwu bothered to file an objection before shouting at the school board.

- Mr. Amanchukwu is using this clip of the meeting to promote his own book that he's selling.

Most of these details come from here:

I'm still not clear on exactly what item on the agenda Mr. Amanchukwu was supposed to be speaking to.

I did post a link that said it was a library book. Please note, the source was FOX News.

I just noticed the video had been put behind a spoiler for nudity. And thats cool.

Evidently its too graphic for the adults of RF but ok for the school library..(only nudity was in the book)

I suspect most RFers would have no issue with the drawings in the book; it's just that Google's ad requirements are strict about this stuff.

One major difference is that sex ed would be provided with the knowledge and guidance of parents and/or teachers, whereas content on RF isn't guaranteed to have such supervision.

I just watched the video again and the "nudity" is not discernable. The video is supposedly in 1080 HD and I have my settings at that level and could see no more details than one would see if one used the in line spoiler option for images. The couples in bed together looked as if their naughty bits were under the sheets. At least that is what seems to be the case. When he holds up the page that shows naked people one cannot see breasts or genitalia. The detail is just not there. It is visible in the book, but not in the video. Maybe if I saw it on YouTube.

EDIT: Nope, not visible on YouTube either.
