Science & God

Syphros

Errmm... You what now?
Do you think the boundaries of science were begotten as God was. This could explain why God can't intefere so directly with the human race.

What do you think?

What do you think?

I think God was created during the Big Bang, along with the rest of the laws of nature.

According to the religious texts of "God" it did interfere on many occasions however since we have entered an age of scientific discovery many things that were "magic" or "miracles" in the past can be explained quite easily.

Many scientific facts can be found in the vedas, India was was home to many of them. Many arabs came along and did compose many books on them and probably chucked em in some religious text of some sort.

"The human spirit which distinguishes man from the animal is the rational soul; and these two names -- the human spirit and the rational soul -- designate one thing. This spirit, which in the terminology of the philosophers is the rational soul, embraces all beings, and as far as human ability permits discovers the realities of things and becomes cognizant of their peculiarities and effects, and of the qualities and properties of beings"

I never thought of it like that. I thought God could have been spontainously created by the laws of equality that have always existed. Then God used the Big Bang to create the perfect-as-it-could-be universe over many billenia (is that a word!).

According to the religious texts of "God" it did interfere on many occasions however since we have entered an age of scientific discovery many things that were "magic" or "miracles" in the past can be explained quite easily.

Fair point. God can't control the laws of science but can bend them when people have faith ergo 'miracles'. However this easily allows them to be explained without quoting God, rather anomalies...

Science was the new faith for fanatically religious states confusing the boundaries that our laid out by scientific convention.

Very good, Is this based on Islam beliefs or a combination of them all?

I see the spirit as a point of view and that spark of live that makes everybody unique.

What do you see as the boundaries between God and science? As in, what areas do you consider that God has not allowed us to alter?

I would think that this is not the case myself, even disregarding my atheism, because we are constantly expaning our scientific purview and abilities.

Science are laws God can't break but can manipulate and bend such as evolution. God is what makes us unique and gives us emotions and sentience.

Very good. Makes some good ties between Religion and Science

I know there are plenty more, sadly i do not know where to find them... The internet does not care for the vedic knowledge of science...

If God is God, and has the power to do whatever he wishes, he could easily disregard scientific laws. Otherwise, that would negate the omnipotence part that many attach to God.

Scientific laws is a bit of a misnomer, by the way. Science has theories. These theories attempt to explain the natural phenomena of the world, but as new evidence comes to light, these theories can be modified, or even replaced, providing that these new laws are also able to explain the old phenomena that were explained with the previous theories.

So, what theories or laws do you consider that God cannot ultimately break?

If the omnipotent god had no boundaries why doesn't he interfere with us? I'm trying to come up with a plausible conclusion why he doesn't.

It is kind of like what came first, the chick or the egg? And God does have much interferance with the human race, think of the plauges and all that jazz. And how would you explain the dead sea scrolls?

Like petulant children we DEMAND why God does not interact with us.Yet, we breathe his oxygen and walk on his earth.

Perhaps we should take a moment to realize that God is Spirit. His interactions will therefore be spiritual in nature. It only makes sense.

Can he impose his will on the physical realm? He has and he can, but to what end? Merely to satisfy his petulant children? How would they learn and grow? Sometimes God calms the storm but more often he merely calms his child.

In as much as there is no difference between spirit and physical, he can. It's only where we create a chasm of difference that it becomes improbable.

What? Did you expect God to do simple card tricks? If God gives us a sign, it will something that is IMPOSSIBLE for us to do. Not merely HARD or INCONVENIENT: but completely impossible for us to do: Rising from the dead after three days. Walking on water. Changing water into wine. God did not use slights of hand here: he used his power as their ultimate creator to accomplish this.

Simple, complex, tricks, reality, it makes no difference. Or it shouldn't.

If God gives us a sign, it is something that has already come to be.

He has and it's subtle.

Ecclesiastes 3:9 What does the worker gain from his toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. 13 That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him. NIV
