Scientific Proof of Immortality in 8.3 Minutes

"The twin notions of quantum suicide and immortality were first proposed by Hans Moravec in 1987 and independently a year later by Bruno Marchal, but the most work on the idea has been done by MIT's Max Tegmark. The most common version of this experiment goes like this — place the experimenter in a chamber with a life-terminating device, such as a high-powered rifle pointed at her head. Every ten seconds, the spin value of photons will be measured. Depending on the result — and there's a 50/50 chance of either measurement — the device will either fire and kill the experimenter or make an "all clear" noise that tells the experimenter she is safe."

Falsifiable?
It will only take 8.3 minutes to prove...

Sounds a bit too Mengele-esque for my taste.

Yes... but it gets the concept of multidimensional consciousness across.

In this case, only a portion of a person's consciousness exists in this dimension/universe. When they physically die in this universe, the conscious self continues on in other universes.

You continue on conscious, leaving behind in your wake a myriad of universes where you have ceased to exist. So your consciousness would never experience death. Never be aware of having died.

I'd like to point out that this isn't proof. The experiment has no verifiability as of yet. It remains a theory.

Sounds like a rehash of Schrödinger's Cat if you ask me(ow).

The proof would be in your survival. It is pretty much mathematically impossible for you to survive.

Of course you would have died in 50 universes, So this would have only been proof in one of them. The one in which you survived.

So you basically need a few hundred researchers, 90% of whom will die and the remaining 10% might have gained some kind of insight regarding what happened in other parallel universes?

Might be tricky to get ethics approval for such an experiment..
