Scientology to face criminal charges

If your group believes that humans came from outer space
and were put into volcanoes by an evil entity named Xenu,
then perhaps you should not be too surprised that
people stigmatize you. It shouldn't take a government's intervention...

(if the volcano incident were somehow corroborated by independent
verification, then that's another story. But to date, it has not to
my knowledge.)

It is not the story about outer space or such that people are dubious of, it is the fact that people must pay for religious education within the Scientology Church.

Although some people might sneer at the alien-based religions, is it any more bizzare than saying that Christianity features talking snakes, floods that cover Mount Everest, or individuals that are invincible?

This comes from a Super MOD.

It's one thing to allow people antagonistic to other people's religious beliefs on this forum. It's another to have the forum moderated by them.

I am leaving this forum as a result.

I am a member of the forum also, not just a moderator, and there is a difference.

People are entitled to their opinion, whether or not you like that opinion. If you can't take the heat, though, it's best for you to get out of the kitchen.

But frequently people who get married in christian churches have to pay the minister. What's the difference in Scientology? Is it because you get a receipt?

As for talking snakes - most people would peg that one as symbolism, correct? What if you believed that you were literally/actually trapped in a volcano a long time ago?

You may have to pay the minister for the service of presiding over your wedding, which hopefully is an infrequent event, but you don't have to pay in order to attend Sunday services and/or participate fully as a member of the Christian faith.
