Searching for the right religion/no-religion or faith/no-faith, how one does it?

Since to me they are all rivers leading to the same sea, people may be drawn to one which is in closest accord with their nature.

Speaking for myself, I was raised a no religion no faith. In the Bible belt. Surrounded by what I thought were self righteous hypocrites. One day I had some time on my hand and decided to pick up a Bible and read it, to inform my self of what I had been critical of, and I became a believer. After that it was a long journey to where I'm at now. That journey included keeping an open mind to criticism, my own perfection, and educating myself at least to some degree, on what others believe. Time has passed and I'm standing still. And I'm moving forward.

In my opinion one has to stop looking at who is saying a thing, and start looking at what they are saying.

Then if somone we respect says something untrue, we are free to reject it, and if someone we don’t like says something true, we are free to accept it.

In this way we have less fetters in our independent examination of truth.

As a believer in God I also feel that prayer helps.

It seems to me that in many cases it is inherited; very often it is a matter not so much of sharing beliefs (which is a serious, difficult challenge and probably not worth having as a goal) as of having a common language for religious matters inside one's family and social groups.

After a certain age, the possibility presents itself to actually learn about other viewpoints and decide what sounds inspirational and/or convincing and constructive.

For many people it is just not a big deal either way. Not everyone particularly feels the need to adhere to a faith or religion - or even the need to specifically reject any.

Question Everything
It is a process of learning how to live with ambiguity. No group is perfect, all have good and bad in them - separate the wheat and the chaff, throw out the bath water, but keep the babies.

This thing that I wrote a while back here is still pretty much where I sit on this: https://www.religiousforums.com/threads/the-wrong-religion.170308/

Aka, the right religion does the opposite of everything on that list. Finding the right path is a matter of experiencing life, doing research, and being mindful or introspective along the way. Some people suck at religion, though. It's a hard subject, done right.

No they don't.

And even if it were true, what would it signify? Anyone who's been to university knows you get some very odd ducks in the science faculty…

59% don't believe in a God. So yes there are a number of religions that don't have a God. I'm just saying your options for religions seems to become more limited.

But why seek a religion? I recommend to seek truth and God’s kingdom. :)

"Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:31-33
