Change the "Secret Service" to any government official and it would be more accurate.CaptainXeroid said:However, we also need to remember that the Secret Service is not what we would call a fun-loving bunch of party animals. Their mission is to take any kind of expression that in any way could be construed as a threat very seriously. Granted, they do that to the point of absurdity...but they feel that is the purpose for their existence,
After my husband's first wife died, he took the two boys (ages 2 and 3) on a three month trip around the country. At some point he entered Canada and when he went to come back into the country, the U.S. customs agent asked if he had any ID for the boys. My husband, well known for his tolerance for bureaucrats said (and I quote), "No...they're a little too young to get a driver's license." Without hesitation she told him to pull over to the search area and then spent 3 hours removing everything from the van and searching it all before letting him go.
It would've only been 2 hours but she found a set of old brake calipers under one of the seats and when he told her what they are, she huffily said "We'll see about that" and stomped into the customs office. Ten minutes later (my husband figures someone laughed in her face), she came out madder than before and proceeded to go through some of his stuff one more time.
My husband no longer makes smart remarks to government officials since he knows that I'll divorce him if I get held up for 3 hours for a stupid remark.
