Sen. Ted Cruz Announces His Run for US President

Will all Baptist Christians support him? A poll should be taken.
He'll impress the religious right, no doubt, but he's not that well liked by 40% of Republicans who say they would not vote for him in the primaries. He garners much attention with his off-the-wall comments, which has helped him in Texas, but which is not likely to play well in more normal states* in a national election.

* It used to be that we'd refer to California as being "the Land of Fruits & Nuts", but Texas and Arizona are now vying for that "honor".

From the link/article above:
"What is the promise of America?" Cruz said. "The idea that -- the revolutionary idea that this country was founded upon, which is that our rights don’t come from man. They come from God Almighty."

When he states 'our' ...does he mean heterosexual white men? lol ^_^
Whose ''revolutionary idea'' was it to condone slavery? To prevent women from voting? To keep homosexuals from marrying?

Christians.

Ted for President!!

...

Ted, I'd like to introduce you to a guy you might've heard of. First name Tom, second name Jeff-something. You claim to be a fan of his work. But you keep using words like "God" and other things he would've beaten seven colours of **** out of you for.

Fingers crossed he's found in a bathroom stall with a Thai boy in leathers asking him to call him "daddy".

As a Republican, and having a feel for the "base", Cruz has a zero chance of getting the nomination, and in fact he knows that.

Every name you can think of will be "announcing" over the next couple of months - the list will be long and this is typical. Some are seriously going for it, others like Cruz know they have zero chance but they never intend to get (or even want, actually) the nomination, they are performing some other role in the "game".

Actually Cruz is not the "bible vote", there isn't one specifically rather it is the "moral values" (sometimes called the social contract or other names of the "values" agenda) vote more than "Christian" and it is Huckabee running under that banner and has dibs on that, not Cruz.

In fact, it is true, Cruz is more of the "Christian vote" than Huckabee who is more vague on the specific religions, but he has little chance moving into Huckabee's nitch. The "Christian specific" wing has largely collapsed and the "social values" is no longer a specific "we are superior" religious identity. While Cruz is leaning and courting the Christian Exclusive audience, his agenda is about representing Hobby Lobby, some specific big monied (but small OpCo and small to mid upstream) oil (not Big Oil) in Canada and Texas, as well as that college where he spoke. The idea is to pressure the other candidates. That is his entire role, not the nomination, and there will be others representing other interests who really have no intentions for the nomination but only want to be in thr debates - he will br rewarded for his efforts at a time oil is at $50 dollars a barrel but there is now suddenly some new technology that may save the frackers even at $30 a barrel in an incredible "last minute" tech way sensor technology and mathematical models, developed first for deep offshore drilling, to see into the rock better. As they drill, they use imaging technology to find natural cracks in the rock that they can then use as a target when they fracture the rock, to leverage natural highways for oil and gas. Incredibly, the shale and frackers are going to be saved when on their last breath, amazing luck actually. Mitch in the Senate is hated by the "base", so some are hoping Cruz will give him hell and also play a role in the "wait and watch" on the oil thing. That is his role, not the Presidency, he is representing Canadian and Texas oil interests. But zero on the nomination - it is laughable actually.

I think Cruz running is nothing but good news for the Democrats. If he actually wins the Republican nomination (extremely unlikely) his views will drive any moderate or undecided vote straight to Hillary.

It is unlikely that he will get the nomination, but his just being in the race will force the other pub noms to shift to the right, and then either lose the moderate vote, or shift and lose with the base.

Either way Teddy should make it a good show.

I liked Ted. Ted, the dog I had growing up, I mean. He was a fine dog. Sorry to see they've named a politician after him. The politician is not living up to the high standards of the dog, though.

Democrats should be rooting for him to win the Republican nomination. It would guarantee another Democrat in the White House again. That dude doesn't have a chance in hell of ever winning.

I think Oklahoma is out ahead now with it's new marriage proposal. Cruz is a firm example of how in the land of the blind the one eyed fool is king.
