Send Them Back to Hell

And still, Americans voted for a (bold and unrepentant) criminal.

With the end of TPS, it's not just illegals that will be "deported".
It’s too bad we live in a fallen world and most politicians are corrupt and involved in criminal activities. Just the way it is.
I probably should know, but what is TPS?

It's from a poem on the Statue of Liberty.

“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
As beautiful as that was, they need to just get rid of that.... before somebody gets sued for false advertisement.

I know.. if the writer of that was debating me, I'd probably tell him the same thing

Temporary Protected Status, U.S. immigration policy that allows individuals from certain countries experiencing crisis—such as war, natural disasters, or other conditions making it unsafe to return—to remain in the United States for a designated period of time. TPS grants protection from deportation and access to work permits for those who meet the eligibility criteria.

It was in the OP, BTW.

Thanks for the explanation. Sorry, I’m distracted doing other things and didn’t go back or remember the OP.

Yes, that's pretty much what we humans have said about most of our most sublimely hopeful sentiments.

Rather than work for what we deem to be our best hopes as a species, we dismiss them as impossible -- and move on.

Nice.

How fracking sad!

We don't live in a "fallen world." We live in a world we refuse to elevate! If our politicians are corrupt and involved in criminal activities, there's something we could -- if we wanted -- do about it. We could vote the ******** out of office.

Instead, we ask ourselves, "but what could they do for me?" And then we vote them back in.

It's not the politicians' fault -- they're doing what comes naturally, like a scorpion stings or a viper bites. It's our failure that makes it "just the way it is." We put our greed ahead of our values.

Trump's plan to revoke Temporary Protected Status of immigrants in the US and deport millions is sheer cruelty.

There are 651,000 Ukrainians here under TPS. Will he ship them back into a war zone?
Well, Trump did promise to solve the Ukraine war on his first day of presidency. I think he does believe he has that much power himself

I am not so sure He has that power

I do think Putin and Trump can do it together

BUT I need to see it first, before I believe

After all, War is all about dollars, and Trump is a businessman. But if he works hard to end that war, then good for him
There are scores of thousands of Haitians here under TPS. Today Haiti is a hellscape of gang violence and murder. Just yesterday gangs shot up an airliner on approach to Port au Prince. All flights to Haiti have been suspended. Will he send these Haitian immigrants back to die at the hands of these gangs?
Make America Great again

Whatever it takes

Let's hope Trump doesn't adhere to that

Jesus opposes lawlessness.

So if Jesus was in charge, he would send these people back into hell holes of war and gang carnage?

Is this what it means to be a Christian these days, supporting human carnage because it's the law? IIRC, Jesus broke quite a few laws on the basis of human compassion.

I don't think that any of that is fated to be. No place in the world needs to be like hell. People can figure out how to make things work better, wherever they are. It just might take a lot of work

As I said previously, there are exceptions and extreme cases. But how many are actually fleeing from war and gang carnage? My hope is that the situation and each case will be dealt with properly and in the most humane way possible.

If you read the gospels, it doesn't seem that he was beyond ignoring people in different areas, for various reasons. I personally am not sure about some of the reasoning found in the bible.. and I'm not sure if I have the energy to discuss it. Christianity went through complex permutations. Maybe trying to look at world issues through modern logic is better

And when Christianity got going, it was more about bringing the gospel to supposedly rough places, so those places could change.

Well let us know if that actually happens, or if you're just yet again blowing hot air all over the place like you usually do.

Oh wait, is this one of those cases where we aren't taking him at his word, or is this one of those cases where he means what he says?
