Well it's the word gay "marriage" proponents used for what they claim was a marriage. Gay "marriage" is a marriage like a bicycle is a motorcycle. If you think your bicycle is a motorcycle and I say to you, go get your bicycle, you wouldnt know what I was referring to. I would have to use the word "motorcycle" even though it's actually a bicycle.
There you are -- fully exposed. But I'm sorry to tell you that marriage of same-sex and different-sex couples are regarded by law as the same in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Netherlands --- in fact, here's the list:

Thats irrelevant. Love isn't a requirement for marriage. Who one lives isn't an argument. Two straight men wouldn't have been able to get married either their sexual preference orientation or whatever the word is these days, wouldn't be relevant only their sex mattered
What's irrelevant? I asked you a question.

It's relevant to the vast majority of people getting married in North America who are doing it because they love each other and want to share a life and/or a family together.

When I don't know what a word means I go to a reputable dictionary to find out, such as the Cambridge Dictionary. That way I dodge any bigotry. You are not the only one that can spot bull****.

"a legally accepted relationship between two people in which they live together, or the official ceremony that results in this"
- marriage

That wouldn't be happening because both are the same thing - marriages.
But they arent. You think they are that's why you think your bicycle is not motorcycle

Neither is hiding behind God, religion or plain prejudice. You want the laws changed, make your case. Your personal say-so isn't going to go far in those 36 countries I listed. I strongly doubt they'd see you as an authority.

So you'd be ok with slavery as long as it was legal. Good to know.

Male/female anatomical sex, or gender identity? Two different things.
When you separate gender from sexual biology, that makes gender meaningless.
Some things are definitively different, others, like sexual orientation, don't have clearly identifiable markers. Psychological preferences like gender identification don't yet have identifiable neural markers. We rely on the individual historians' claims.
My point was; they are asking for a heck of a lot more than fair treatment and respect.

Legal doesnt make something right.
Who said that?

This was in response to:

You: "Oh yes of course. Slavery was oncce legal too l. Hiding behind the law is not an argument."

Me: "Yes, it used to be illegal for gay couples to marry, then all those countries on that list changed their laws, and now it's legal.
Amazing."
