Shaken Faith Syndrome

That is exactly the intent of this sladerous filth. to try to bring people down.
I read anti Mormon stuff and I get a black feeling that I cannot describe in language. Truly evil stuff out there. I am not talking about church critics per say, but the ones who are truly evil in their intent to destroy the faith of others and the spirituality of others. Satan uses an arsenal that can take out the most stalwart member if he or she is not careful.

there was a story of a man on his mission in England, Where they cannot prostelyte, they have to stand in a courtyard on a soapbox to preach to those who pass by. The young man was very good at what he did and was rather boastful about it in meetings. well..

one day a homely looking man walked up to him and bean to ask him questions about the churhc, the gospel, and his faith, And it became clear to the missionary that this man knew more about the gospel than even he, the mighty missionary, did. the homely man started asking questions the young missionary did not know how to answer. so the old man began to break down this young missionary's testimony. H went to his mission president requesting to go home because he was no longer sure of his testimony. the mision president asked what had happened. Then, after the missionary gave a summary of the events and questions, the mission presiend looked him square in the face and asked him if he knew who the man was or ever Gotten his name. The young man replied that the old man had not given him a name. The mission president told him that it was Satan who had come to try him. after a long discussion the missionary returned to the courtyards humbled. And he never saw the old man again. and nobody knew who he was or where he came from.

WOOHOOO I'm back. Did ya miss me? Of course you did. :D:yes:

When I was younger, I used read as much anti mormon literature as I could get my hands on. Thinking nothing could shake my faith. I was arrogant enough to think I was above it all.
Actually, I still think that. :p

What I didn't realise was that it slowly reeled me in, when I was actually starting to believe it. I didn't realise till it was almost too late. Fortunately I've come to understand how damaging it can be to your spirit. I hope I never go there again. Although, it can make you stronger in some respects.

It is definitely true for some people.

My mother was one of them, She owned books liek "The God Makers" ; "Mormon Murders: The Salamander Letters" and other such books that were extremely anti-mormon. She told me the reason she owned them was so she could read them and know what she was up against when people would confront her on obviously false accusations and misunderstandings of the Gospel.

If you are going to be aware of what the enemy is spewing, and read it, you have to do so with a spirit of strength and sureness in your testimony. Go in with pride and without the Spirit, Satan can eat your testimony for lunch. Go in with your humility and God on your side AND with the spirit you can confound your adversaries. But I would not recommend it for the lay Mormon.

For what it's worth, I never read any of that stuff until after I rejected the Church, and even then I only read a little bit and then lost interest. Personally, I think people who attack the church in such a way are still allowing themselves to be controlled by it. I prefer a live-and-let-live mentality.

I was on youtube looking at the new Joseph Smith film. I came across a few anti video's. One in particular caught my eye. The title made me angry. 12 months ago I wouldn't have hesitated in watching. But this time I didn't. I was slightly curious, but not enough. I guess I'm growing up after all. :D
