There are more than 5000 ladybird (ladybug) species. Ladybirds usually eat plant lice. However, Asian species when introduced to the Europe attacked European ladybirds.

Dots on the ladybirds have nothing to do with the years of living. Some ladybirds have up to 22 dots on the back.

Average lifespan of these cute bugs is three years.

Some people believe that ladybirds can predict the weather. If they fell off your hand it would rain, if they flew away it would be fine.

The largest octopus weighs about 15kg (Octopus dofleini).

An Octopus has three hearts and it can squeeze through a hole the size of a 10-cent coin.

Hapalochlaena species can inject enough venom in one bite to kill several adult humans.

They can adopt a two-tentacles "walk" that frees up their six remaining limbs and makes them look like an armed vehicle.

The sea squirt, a little primitive vertebrate, is free-swimming as a larva and has a rudimentary brain. When it becomes an adult, it attaches itself to a rock and doesn't need its brain anymore, so it eats it.

(I've seriously considered getting a tattoo of a sea squirt because it's such a great metaphor. When you grow up, don't attach yourself to a rock and eat your own brain!)

Eating local honey will help allergies.

Local Honey Helps Kids With Allergies

Allergies develop from continuous exposure to the same allergens. Over time, repeated exposure to the same plants builds up in your system until one day you have an allergic reaction.

It seems strange that adding more exposure to pollen through honey will help allergies, but it does. It's the same reason people take allergy shots. The amount of pollen you get from the honey (or the shot) is so small that your body is able to ‘fight it off' easier than when you get hit by a full onslaught of spring pollen. This immunity then continues into pollen season protecting the child from allergic reaction - or at least making them less severe. While it's the same principle behind taking allergy shots, honey all-natural, less costly, and tasty!

6. The Titanic was the first ship to use the SOS signal.
Not quite. It was used by German radio operators for quite a while before it was adopted as an international signal. The Titanic sinking happened shortly after that happened, but other ships used the signal first.

40. The only 2 animals that can see behind itself without turning its head are the rabbit and the parrot.
Or a human with a mirror. :D

Another random, interesting fact: paleontologists recently unearthed the fossil of a record-setting boa. Titanoboa cerrejonensis was 75 cm wide and tall at the ribs, and is estimated to have been about 13 m (42 ft) long and weigh 1,140 kg (2,500 lbs).

I read recently that young children may like to eat dirt because it allows their young immune systems to "learn" about the germs in their environment before they're exposed to them as colds. A mud pie a day keeps the doctor away!

Rat poison has to have no effect on the rat after first very small tentative nibble, subsequent nibbles also have to have no effect. Effect sets in when the rat has consumed enough poison to kill it. Symptoms can take up to 12 - 15 days after the initial meal.
Why.............if ill effects were felt initially the rat would consume no more.
because the rat tests before it consumes in any quantity the poison acts by building up a bit at a time
