Pocketful Of Miracles

This here’s a story about love
A love that’s gotten away
I love I needed to find again
A love that’s here to stay

She said that she’d been gone an hour
She’d said that she would be right back
But all that I know is that its two months later
And I realize baby’s not coming back

And when she comes back (and I know she’ll be back)
I’ll be waiting there honey, ready to pick up the pieces where we left off

It’s going on two years after
And I think I should be getting out
All that I know is that love don’t come easy
Haven’t quite figured what it’s all about

Now you men out there, I know how hard it can be
You keep searching and searching and I know you’re going to find her out there somewhere

But I’m here to tell you
Not to give up hope
There’s no need to cry, there’s no need to cope
Every man, has something to share
Now me all I have, is a pocket full of miracles
Miracle, miracles, miracles
A pocketful of miracles

I met another girl at the downtown
Nice enough to give me the time of the day
We went around for quite some time now
And I knew just where I was going to stay

I mean this girl had it all, you know what I’m talking about
If I searched the four corners of the earth, I still couldn’t find any better

We were married on the Fourth Of July
And the fireworks came right after that
There is a lesson here for all us to learn from
If you wait enough you’ll find missus right

Now you men out there, I know how hard it can be
You keep searching and searching and I know you’re going to find her there somewhere

But I’m here to tell you
Not to give up hope
There’s no need to cry, there’s no need to cope
Every man, has something to share
Now me all I have, is a pocket full of miracles
Miracle, miracles, miracles
A pocketful of miracles

Words and music: Patrick J. Cardero
Lead Vocals: Buddy Hay
Guitars: Pat Cardero
Backing Vocals: JoJo Curry, Tom Destry, Pat Cardero. Chris Curry
Recorded At: Destry Studios ??/??/98

INSPIRATIONS: I was heavily influenced by the sounds of Motown growing up and I was coming off my first relationship which lasted three years. The band used to enjoy my romantic escapades, break-ups and reconciliations because they were always pleased with the rollercoaster of emotions that would eventually result in new original songs. This was the second song recorded in the Destry Studio sessions and a time in my life where I was more inclined to write songs catering to Buddy Hay’s vocal strength.

My apologies for the quality of the recording (it didn’t stand the test of time) and thanks goes out to mrscardero for posting it on YouTube.

YouTube - Just Like You

JUST LIKE YOU

For many years, I lived my life, my mother said, beware of guys like you
The scarecrow said, you had no heart, that it was hard for you to be so true
Now I know what I’ve always known, to be with you is to lose with a guy like you
Just like you

CHORUS
It’s just like you to fold my dreams
It’s just like you to fill the tears that I cry
And just like you I wonder why
It’s just like you to ask me why I even try

Couldn’t help to notice when I spoke of space you always drew so near
To speak my mind, to confront my fears, to slam my doors and still your standing here
But you better know what I have always known that I could do it better without someone like you

CHORUS
It’s just like you to fold my dreams
It’s just like you to fill the tears that I cry
And just like you I wonder why
It’s just like you to ask me why I even try

Even try
(You know, I should’ve)
Even try
(I really should have known better)

When I go to sleep, as I close my eyes, my thoughts and dreams, they still remind me of you
(????????)
When I looked at you, you turned away, I swear to you, you never looked so blue
(???????????)
But you better know what I’ve always known that I could do it better without someone like you

(CHORUS) 3x

Words and music: Patrick J. Cardero
Lead Vocals: Judy Santiago
Guitars: Pat Cardero
Recorded At: Home under my JFA Productions label ??/??/2001

INSPIRATIONS: After my band The Jason Society broke up, I decided that I still enjoyed creating music and sometimes wrote and composed songs with other people in mind. Judy Santiago is my cousin (from my fathers side) and she has performed with me on stage when I toured with the band Signal 7 and she eventually starred and still continues to sing in her own band Replica. It isn’t easy determining that I wrote a song from a female perspective but I knew Judy would provide a desirable R&B flavor to it and I am very pleased with the outcome. This is the first of two songs in the Judy Santiago sessions.

My apologies for the quality of the recording (it didn’t stand the test of time) and thanks goes out to mrscardero for posting it on YouTube.

YouTube - Dear God

DEAR GOD (unfinished)

Dear God
Tell me why the sky is falling
Tell me if I ever have to live those lives

And Dear God
What is it that they were thinking
Did they have to be so sure
Did you open up a door
Can you let my feelings out
Did they know what life’s about
Did they tell you we were crazy
Don’t you think it’s time they know the truth

Don’t need your revelation
Don’t need you judgment day
Can’t you see we have tomorrow?
And the Lord will have his say
Yes, the Lord will have his say

And dear God
Tell me all about these sinners
Tell me all about their strange and wicked ways

And dear God
I think I know that evil’s coming
Did they have to try so hard
Did they have to kill so many
Did you have to play a part
Did you know that you could stop them
Did they tell you were we crazy
Don’t you think it’s time they know the truth

Don’t need you revolution
Don’t need your prophecy
Can’t you see we have tomorrow?
And we’ll have to wait and see
Yes, we’ll have to wait and see

We can speak your evil, your chauvinistic views
I tried to blame you, but it wasn’t any use
Don’t have to follow, there is no destiny
Don’t have to listen, to live in harmony
Don’t need you vision, your second sight to see
Don’t need your preaching, to save a wretch like me

Dear God
Tell me when the sky is falling
Cause I pray I never have to live their lives

Word and Music: Patrick J. Cardero and Judy Santiago
Lead Vocals: Judy Santiago
Background Vocals: Alyssa ????
Guitars: Pat Cardero
Recorded At: Home for JFA Productions ??/??/2001

REFLECTIONS: Originally this song was entitled Dear John and it was to be another break-up song. When I proposed the idea to Judy, she wanted to change it to Dear God and focus more on the incident of September 11, 2001. I didn’t mind the changes and I found out that my cousin had hidden lyrical songwriting talents. We both decided that it would be a good idea to bring her Replica band member Alyssa in for back ground vocals. Judy wanted her band to perform this song as an original but the band had regards to the political and religious over tones. The song which could very easily stand alone as an “unplugged” performance remains unfinished to this day.

My apologies for the quality of the recording (it didn’t stand the test of time) and thanks goes out to mrscardero for posting it on YouTube.

MEET THE JASON SOCIETY

Between 1997-1999 a group of mucisians got together to perform various clubs, saloons and other local venues. As a cover and a original band we covered New York counties all the way from Rockland to Sullivan.
Everyone of these musicians were integral to the original songs that I have recorded.

From left to right:

Frank Sardella-Drummer. I met Frank through Chris Curry and I still try to keep in touch with Frank as much as I can. Excellent drummer and the last that I heard, he was still writing his own original music and filling in for drummers such as my cousin Judy’s REPLICA band.

Buddy Hay-Singer. Buddy recently got married and now has a daughter. The last band he played in was Frank Sardella’s PRESS PLAY. Buddy was always’s passionate about singing and was effectively inspired by many vocal Rock and Roll legends.

Pat Cardero- Guitarist. Since early grade school I was always interested in playing the guitar. I had lessons early in life but never followed through. I rediscovered the instrument again in my late teens and went on to perform with Signal 7 and The Jason Society.

Daryl Hey-Bassist. Daryl graduated from Valley Central and went to college for music. He spent numerous years in Germany and eventually became a music teacher and sound engineer for The Paramount, a theater in Middletown, NY.

Chris Curry-Keyboardist. I met Chris on The New York State Thruway when we were both part timers. Chris came up with the idea to name our first band Signal 7. He knew Frank Sardella and I introduced them to Buddy Hay and the rest is musical history.

very nice cardero. Thanks for posting the lyrics. Do you have any videos of yourself playing or your group playing?
mrscardero and I are trying to reconstruct some video footage of me playing with my band Signal 7 at the Downtown in Middletown. The only problem is that the video is ancient and our computer video capturing program is giving us a difficult time but we should try to get something up by the week.

I really did learn how to use my multitrack
with this project.
It was also a majikal musical experience for me.

~UltraViolet~

It really is magic. I prefer all aspects of song composition. I enjoy coming up with the concepts, the wordsmithing, the performance, the mixing, the sequencing, the feel of the levers and knobs between my fingertips. Choosing the right sounds for the right song. Tweaking the song till it sounds just right. Don't tell mrscardero but I really do believe that it is better than sex.

If I could figure out how to attach files I'd stick a couple of songs on. Any pointers?

Do you have your music in your computer? If you do, all you have to do is go to your Windows Movie maker. If you have windows movie maker you can just put an audio track in, then make a video file out of it by setting it to a picture or something. You don't need a video. You can just post a picture or leave it black and load your music. After you publish it, you can load it on YouTube. Basically you need to create an account on YouTube and click the "upload" button on your account page. From there it's much like uploading an audio file. It's really easy once you get the hang of it. The only thing that takes time is the loading.

Ok, now that I have a good way to manage my sound file uploads...
here it is again.

TheNewReality

was kind of two things in one.
It was my first improvised composition
on my (then new) multitrack recording system.
I learned at least half of what I know about Cubase
from recording that work.

And on a personal level,
that work came to embody or represent
the whole experience that changed my life,
the paradigm I live in,
from that first supernaturally stormy night,
to the wondrous epiphony I awoke to the next morning.
and the whole summer...
and how all of creation spoke to me...
and my eyes were opened to a whole new world...
and the life change...
and the incredible joy of it all...
and how it all cycles up in spirals from there.

My NEW Reality.

anyway, I hope you like it.

I'm currently working on an Instrumental version of Mujer Amante by Rata Blanca. I have the Drums and Keys finished, and I'm working on the bass. After this I just need the Lead and Distorted guitars. Hopefully I'll finish it today so I can cram it in here.

By the way, if you'd like to get your music into more ears, check out Keepmusicalive.com. Me and Aqualung help run the place and we've had many RF members there. Cool place.

Edit: Bass done. Now Distortion guitar minus solos.

Edit2: Guitar and Solos done.

Edit the Third: Lead done. Mixing time. Oh god this is taking hours.

Last Edit: Okay, got it as far as it's gonna get before I crash. Here's a link, but it's on KMA. http://www.keepmusicalive.com/mujer-amante-t5836.html?p=63363#post63363

Still way rough and in a way incomplete, but seriously, tired.

Were you Dark_Waltz? If so, there may be some...issues with getting around on KMA.

Either way, you aren't missing out on much...it was kind of crap. I have a tendency to disown my music.

Zephyr....

No, I never joined your forum.
(aparantely visitors cannot access your attachments)

Even though I've been a musician for some 25 + years...
I'm not sure I have much to add to the conversation.

I'm just doin' cover tunes now myself...
just me, my digital piano, and a mic with reverb & chorus etc...
(mostly to make money)
and while I do them STUNNINGLY well,
(if I do say so myself :flirt: )
to most people... musicians really....
well they are ... "only" cover tunes.

I don't play in a band or anything
don't have the time or money to do any serious solo recording
and truly with all the ability and knowledge I have
regarding arranging, improvisation and music theory
the idea of being completely underestimated
by a bunch of young musicians
just depresses me.

I studied with some of the greatest jazz musicians in the NYC area
but jazz musicians are not regarded in such estime
as metal/alternative (whatever) musicians and all in our day and age.

Conversations about what modes fit over dominant b9 #11 chords
don't seem to interest most young musicians these days.

anyway....
Maybe i'll look over your forum again
when I at least have a bunch of my cover tunes recorded.
If I think I have something to offer there
I'll sign on.
