Shooting Sex Scenes

I have done a sex scene. It's probably not as exciting as you imagine. First off, there's a crowd of people all around you pointing things at you, thinning and taking about their own responsibilities. Second, the lights are REALLY bright. You probably don't want to see people so close in so much detail. Also, you stop and start a million times for multiple takes and different camera angles.

Basically, the only thing hot about it is the lights.

Actual sex is way more fun.

That would be my thoughts... I think I much rather prefer actual sex with anyone or anything over pretending to have sex and trying to make it look as real as possible for a camera.

An ex-gf had to do a sex scene in a movie. The misery that was on her face the entire time was so priceless; I'd like to think I felt uncomfortable, but really his discomfort with enough for everyone in the room. :D

I would, but then I have done things acting that I normally don't do (like taking my clothes off and being in my undies in front of others), but it's not "me" doing them but me portraying the character that does them. It wouldn't even matter the attraction of the other actor(s), as again it is acting if you find the role makes your uncomfortable then don't accept the role. The only thing I would demand is that protection be used if penetration was a part of the scene.

I haven't done a sex scene on stage or in film, but I have danced partially nude in front of an audience. However, being on set for many a film, being filmed myself, and having family members who are active in the film industry, what you describe is what I would imagine it to be like.

I bet Micheal Douglas had fun In Basic Instinct.

Yup. I started doing the little kid plays in school during first grade, and haven't quit.

I've done alittle bit of film, and I don't think a sex scene would be fun at all. What Alceste described is how I would imagine it, which means staying physically aroused I imagine would be very difficult; women probably frequently have to use lube, men probably have a hard time keeping it up. You have very hot lights, people directing, people talking, constant interuption, and that is just a normal scene. Add in a sex scene there is probably no real mood or intimacy, and it isn't sex you are having for fun or love, but as a part in a scene. I would imagine it probably hardly really counts as a sexual encounter or experience, even if penetration is involved just because during real sex if someone is telling you what to do it isn't a director or cameraman telling you to reposition yourself, wait, stop, keep going, or whatever for the effect of the film.

According to excerpts from his biography, he was battling alcoholism and sex addiction while having severe marital problems. Sharon Stone was getting a lot of press. But Michael Douglas was checking into a rehab clinic to clean up.

I have serious doubts that he was having any sort of enjoyment on the set. He was in the middle of fighting several addictions. I'm not trying to ruin a fantasy here, but if you're willing to make a bet, I'm willing to take you up on it.

Thank you for your answer. That was really informative. Frubal time! p.s I watched Basic Instinct last night and I just keep asking myself why else would have taken that role?
