I think if you're going to legalize cannabis, you need to cap its THC content at around ten percent or less. An acquaintance of mine is an ER doctor who was also a proponent of legalization here in Colorado. In the twenty years he worked ER before legalization, he didn't see even one case of THC overdose. But within a few months after legalization, he was seeing an average of one THC overdose a week. The difference? With legalization, THC levels in cannabis soared.
The higher the THC, the less one has to smoke, thus less harm to the lungs. Besides, people are going to smoke whatever amount to reach their desired level, regardless. Lower the THC and people will simply smoke a greater amount to compensate.
The issue is a lack of responsiblity and moderation.

And the rest of us have to pay in the form of higher insurance premiums for the behavior of those with no self-control.

It will remain illegal, cuz there's more $ in it remaining illegal.
The Governent spends a ridiculous amount of money on enforcement costs, which are not nearly made up by fines/court-costs. So, can you provide some proof for this surprising claim?

Like with fast food consumption? Clearly legal vices cause more serious and more widespread health issues. Singling out cannabis is hypocrisy.

A THC overdose isn't even that big of a deal and there have been NO REPORTED DEATHS from these kinds of overdoses. Take a look at the symptoms ... any smoker will tell you that they've experienced this at one point and that a hospital visit isn't necessary. It's just a reaction to the paranoia.

Effect of Ingesting Too Much Marijuana --“Greening Out”
A temporary overdose of marijuana can occur and is called “greening out.” It is important to understand that a temporary overdose of marijuana will not result in permanent disability or death, but can be quite common in people who have not used the drug often. The following are the symptoms of too much marijuana in the system:

  • Temporary feelings of paranoia, fear and anxiety
  • Shortness of breath
  • Pupil dilation
  • Vomiting and/or nausea
  • Fast heart rate
  • Shaking that is hard to control, feeling cold
  • Disorientation or hallucinations
  • Hangover
This phenomenon passes on its own within minutes to hours of marijuana use. If the symptoms are severe, medical attention needs to be obtained to make sure the user is closely observed for complications. There is a chance that some marijuana obtained on the street could contain stronger chemicals and drugs that could cause a person to become very ill. In this case, someone could suffer from dangerous side effects. There is also a slight risk of using too much marijuana with underlying health conditions and suffering severe reactions to the drug.

It makes no logical sense for cannabis to be illegal when far more unhealthy, addictive, and dangerous substances like tobacco and alcohol are not. On top of that, it's an affront to the ideal of liberty to punish people for something that neither victimizes nor violates the rights of others. It's like locking people up for eating junk food (it's harmful to your health, afterall.)
Legalization, regulation, and taxation is the only sensible course.

It makes perfect sense. They can get you hooked with the bad stuff. It kills people too.The stuff that actually helps you is the stuff they do not want you to have.

Oh you are in Colorado.I heard of 4 brothers I believe it is in Colorado that have grown some weed that is reversed in potency.Instead of it having 24% THC and 3% cannabinoid,it now has 3% THC and 24% cannabinoid. They invented this strain for children.I saw a story of a little girl who was having about 300 seizures a day.She was to the point where she could not do anything. Her twin would just watch in horror.Well they got some of that new strain from those guys in Colorado and one drop on her tongue stopped all the seizures for 7 days.Amazing! This would be great for all who have illnesses and do not want that fuzzy lost high brain feeling.Just the medicinal parts are being used.

1. No one in history has ever died from a THC overdose.
2. The idea of the "gateway drug" is a falacy, as it is not rational to label cannabis as such. If anything, alcohol is the initial drug that young people use, starting their "trip" into intoxication. There is absolutely no reason to categorize cannabis as the "gateway drug" over alcohol or nicotine. And, the idea is absurd because there are plenty of people who use cannabis and never move on to harder drugs. The only reason why cannabis is illogically grouped with substances like heroine and cocaine is simply it's legal status.
3. I'm not sure what you mean by "the stuff that helps is the stuff they do not want you to have." Who is "they?" What is the "stuff that helps?" Why don't "they" want you to have this "stuff?"

Do some research on this before forming an opinion. THC is a cannabanoid. You are referring to CBD, which has immense medical capabilities ... one of which helps kids with epilepsy cut down the amount of seizures they have by over 90%. But, THC has been shown to have tons of medical uses as well ... the most important being appetite stimulation and the easing of symptoms associated with PTSD.

I have no clue as to what you are talking about.I am for this medicinal use.I am against tobacco and the things that are bad for you.Weed will not kill you.

Again, CBD is great, but THC (which gets you "high") has tons of medical uses as well. Really, the entire plant can be used for ton of beneficial purposes beyond intoxication.

5 Must-Know Facts About Cannabidiol (CBD)

I am well-aware of CBD. I was merely pointing out that you said "cannibinoid" instead of "cannibidiol." Sorry for being in your face about it, but I am a very strong advocate of cannabis legalization.

It's alright my good man! You are just passionate about your belief. No harm no foul.:)
