Since a lot of you can't stand me here, vote me off and I'll stop logging in! The poll is anonymous, and I'm not going to reply to anything in this thread. I don't care anymore. :(

I voted "no." I don't often agree with you. I find you contentious and strident sometimes (and you have come back at me in the same tone on a number of occasions)., but getting along with people means sometimes putting up with stuff we'd rather not. Families are very often like that, don't you think? (Go ahead, remember all those Thanksgivings and Christmases, and how often nobody ever argued with anybody. Hah, never happened!)

We need to have diversity in thought and you happen to be one of the few remaining conservatives on this forum. Cutting yourself off completely would be a mistake, but if you don't want contentious debate, I suggest sticking to the forums that don't allow it.

I voted no because I like discussing with people with a different POV than my own. Talking to people I agree with does nothing for me, I prefer people like you that I usually disagree with because that is the only way to grow and learn. If you leave, that is your choice but your input will be missed.

I didn't vote because I'm not telling people what to do.

I can make people "go away" by putting them on my ignore list. Those who are on that list are not there because we disagree on any matter, they are there because we disagree about civil conduct in debate.
You haven't made my ignore list and I will continue to disagree with you and debate you as long as you stay civil.
(By the way: help my memory, do we disagree about any important matter or was there any time I said I'd wish you'd go away? Or when you wished I'd go away?)

I suggest you make liberal use of the ignore feature and try if that makes your experience more pleasant before you take a final step.

What makes you say that? Have people expressed this or is it more of a feeling?

I do believe in trying to remain attentive to how one is being perceived; not in order to adjust and fit in, but because frequently reoccurring reactions to us, may point to how we can improve our interactions with others.

It could be the tone we use, the words we choose, how often and much we misinterpret what someone else is trying to say, etc.

People’s reactions contain useful information both about them and about our own ways of expressing ourselves.

Humbly,
Hermit
