Should all pornography be banned to protect children from viewing it? If so, why? If not, why not?

Should some kinds of pornography be banned to protect children from viewing it? If so, why? If not, why not?

Unless porn causes people to go on mass killing sprees, I'd say no.

If a parent does not want their kids watching porn, they have the power of keeping it out of their house hold.

No, Childrens parents have the responsibility to protect them, Porn is out there and while it doesn't float my boat banning it would only drive it underground. The sole caveat that I would apply is that the porn should involve consenting adults, anyone having anything to do with child porn should be locked up and the key thrown away.

How would banning pornography aid us in protecting children?

In my point of view, all pornography shoud be banned, and not just for children..

I actually find it immoral in general
Nevertheless, the topic of this thread is whether it should be banned in order to protect children.

No, pornography (in general) should not be banned (I make an exception for things like child pornography). Adults should monitor young children so they are not getting access to pornography. I don't see how banning pornography protects children. I think being stricter with sex offenders/pedophiles would do more to protect children than banning pornography.

As far as banning any type of pornography; I'm not aware of all the kind of stuff that's out there that includes illegal acts, but those responsible for producing and distributing child pornography, as well as those who are found to view it, should receive strict punishment. Unfortunately, I know of a man who had child pornography on his computer (as well as a history of inappropriate relations with children) and only received thirty days in jail (and I'm not even sure he served it). This is too lenient an approach to this sort of disgusting offense.

If my thought was to ban pornograohy "not just" for children, then by logic, my answer is to certainly "ban it for protecting children!"..That's logic dude :D

Honestly, I think why letting pornography there if parents are going to prevent access to them anyway?

...

What problem do you have with legal adults looking at such things in the privacy of their own home, when there aren't any children within a mile?

Yeah--the problem is not with the pornography, its with the parenting. Its a free country; people should be allowed to look at porn if they want to. As for children, it is the parent's responsibility to protect them.

And here it is! More people need to think like this. I am sick and tired of people blaming society on things like obesity, underage pregnancy, or any other problems they come across. People need to learn to raise kids.

What I mean is that, with protection, pornography is banned anyway in children's precpective..

And in my POV (but not to be discussed here), I think it should be banned for adults too!

So, people shouldn't watch porn while being children, and it's ok when they grow up?

Please tell me (as a father) how would you teach your son such a thing?

Yep, now you're getting it.

I'll teach him that as long as he lives in my house, he doesn't get to look at it. I expect he'd still find it on the internet (I know I did), but if he gets caught, he gets punished. That simple. Once a kid's grown up and moved out, they aren't my business anymore.

If it's legal to do without a camera, it should be legal to do with a camera.

That about sums up my opinion as well.

I am undecided on this one. All child pornography should be banned, but as for adults for adults, that would be a personal decision. I certainly don't look at the stuff, but if someone does, it doesn't actually hurt anyone. Parents are usually pretty good about hiding their stuff (at least until the child starts to snoop).
If a person is single and there are no children around they should be able to look at whatever they want. If it is a parent who has children, s/he should hide it away in a good place or lock it up so his or her children cannot get to it.
