Should Pornography Be Banned To Protect Children?

Should pornography be banned to protect children from viewing it?

They would probably laugh at us for being so stupid.

Well, as I've said, I don't think any level of porn (except kiddy of course) should be banned for any reason.

HOWEVER, I don't think we, being part of a heavily industrialized, specialized, technologically advanced society whose governments is a complex a constitutional republic, should give a rat's rear what stone age villagers have to say about society.

Should all pornography be banned to protect children from viewing it? If so, why? If not, why not?

Should some kinds of pornography be banned to protect children from viewing it? If so, why? If not, why not?

Pornography should not be banned to teenagers, (even though they still look at it frequently) as it is healthy for them because of, you know , and if they want to view such material, i don't really understand why they wouldn't be allowed. It does not promote violence of evil or anything of that nature. As for children, they wouldn't want to because they are not in that stage of development to have sexual desires for the opposite sex (or sometimes the same sex). For children and teenagers who object to viewing pornographic material, their should be a warning as to what site they are entering.

I would say that porn could do a good bit of damage to a young person. Have you ever noticed how women are treated in porn? I know that some of the softer porn is ok, but some of the stuff is just absolute filth and teaches people how to be animals.

What about gay porn?
I personally don't find anything sexy in porn that is violent or that has any sort of abusive concepts in it.

Well I don't want my kids watching any porn to be honest.

Like I said I really don't find soft porn to be bad...two people making love on film. But anytime they start to get to where they are abusive to women or start acting sick it starts to really bother me.

The problem is...it's hard to regulate unhealthy things. It's hard to force people to stop being stupid.

I am really not trying to joke about the subject here at all. But I find it humerous as this is one of the first threads I happen to see upon returning to RF. Why you say. Well I had been away on due to work. My mom was watching the boys. I come home and to my amazement my computer is dead, fried, burried and why you might ask? What do you think two teenage boys might have done?
I am still thinking how to answer this one.

Put a can of carbonated beverage on the tower, forgot about it, and then conveniently cleaned up the mess whilst forgetting to mention that it spilled?

Or perhaps...

Was reading a Harry Potter book in PDF format and then out of orneriness read aloud one of the spell words and poof, the computer fried?

But I am only guessing...

Hmm well all these niffty photos poped up when I was trying to get rid of the poor virus infected machine. Not to mention the security of course ran out while I was away. And those photos did not look like any Harry Potter I know:eek:

Fair enough.
However, I have never had a computer fry because there was a picture on the hard drive.

So I would contend that it was not the pornographic pictures themselves that fried your PC, but the added baggage that came with them...

No, however i think a separate domain space should be created to better control it. Porn sites should be forced to work within a www.porn.xxx [or something like that] naming convention so that one can more easily block those kinds of sites.

But wouldn't that just encourage more traffic? I mean, empower people to do a ".xxx" search, and I imagine that some porn sites will just rake in the new profits.

They were having a scavenger hunt. :D

The kids were browsing porn sites and your computer got zapped by ITDs -- Internet transmitted diseases.

I basically lost an entire PC to...wait, never mind, this isn't the Eros forum. :D

My teenage brother was ALWAYS looking at porn when I was gone. I didn't like that in and of itself, but worse was all the viruses I got from it. I was like, hey man you wanna wank off fine, but why you gotta break my stuff to do it? It became an issue of this is my PC and you don't pay for the warranties, and you don't suffer the loss of files when I have to recover the entire thing, so stop breaking my stuff dude (all this was cuz he didn't want to stop looking at porn). All that made him do was start looking at it at school which is disturbing unto itself because why wasn't it blocked at school? Anyway.....

What's paradoxical is that if people (yes that includes adolescents) could freely look at erotica, it would cease to hold its allure. It would just be a magazine with pictures, nothing more. I think many of us can testify to a teenagehood (yep, it's a word now) of being forbidden to look at porn, and being fascinated by what it really was; yet now as free adults, it could be lying right by our beds, and we wouldn't care that much (*most* of the time ).

Unless porn causes people to go on mass killing sprees, I'd say no.

If a parent does not want their kids watching porn, they have the power of keeping it out of their house hold.

Absolutely 100% correct in my eyes.

A lot of people enjoy watching porn and as far as I know, the actors love their jobs also.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.
