Should religion be taught in science class?

There has to be a GOD for life to exist. Life establishes life. Dead matter establishes nothing. Scientists have been unable to prove otherwise. You have not proven that the Jew is wrong nor that Christian ethic is wrong. Simply because you consider it an error of judgment doesn't make it so.

I said this was off-topic to the subject of this thread. Start another thread if you want to discuss this further

1. The very existence of life. There is no scientific proof that life can, did or does originate from inanimate objects or materials. (Scientific Proof)

Scientists have created self-promoting proteins in laboratories. These proteins are believed to have been the precursor to both RNA and life. Self-promoting proteins basically copy themselves and make another protein strand using materials from the environment. They generally "live" near thermal vents underwater.

Get a life! GOD is the reason for any scientific research. All sceintific reasearch centers around the questions how and why? Without such reasoning there is no point to science.

Amino Acids are not life and interestingly even these self-promoting proteins exist because they were created of sorts and not by "natural" observable means.

Actually, they just set up non-promoting protein strands (which are created naturally) and let them evolve naturally. It brought them to the self-promoting phase. Of course, they were simulating the thermal vents, using controlled conditions, but that's only cause thermal vents are hard to observe, and certain bacteria live there nowadays, and they eat the strands. Of course they are not life. But they are the precursor.

Many animo acids have a shape that facilitates joining to another animo acid. All those comptations you see quoted about how hard is it to create a protein are not adjusted for this.

There are at least three proofs for the existance of GOD.

1. The very existence of life. There is no scientific proof that life can, did or does originate from inanimate objects or materials. (Scientific Proof)

So...we don`t know why life is here so god musta done it?
Why not aliens?
Why not ...hell anything else?
There is no proof god created life.
Your argument is fallacy

2. The continued persistance of the Jew for survival. Both their religious heritage and ethic linage has outlasted all other ancient societies in the face of all attempts of total
eradication. (Historic Proof)

Heheh...Judaisms survival is proof of god..uh huh..ok.
Got it.

3. The way social order and behavior have been infected by the religious fervor of only a few individuals to permanently change the lives of countless individuals over the course of centuries. (Social Proof)

This isn`t proof of god, it`s proof of horrible atrocities, fear, intolerance, genocide, witch trials, inquisitions, and rape and murder.
Not proof of god..at least i hope not..wouldn`t be my kinda god.

So..you don`t have any proof huh?

Even if I agree Life establishes life it still does not equate to "There must be a god" something else could have done it.

pah..I`m sorry I continued this topic here.

I hadn`t read through to the end of the thread.
I`ll cease and desist.

Amoeba is made of non-living things i.e. atoms and molecules but it is still living. If Life does not have to be made of life but can be made of non-living objects, then why can't life be created from non-living objects?

P.S. Does Amoeba have a soul? Because amoeba does not really die but splits up into two daughter amoebae. So at what point does its soul leave its body?

So am I. And you. And every living thing. Did you think we were made of lego?

Amoeba do die. Sometimes of natural causes and sometimes because of predators.

I've got it -

I demand that my religion (I'll call it "Tristianity" - named after the guy that founded it - Tristan) be taught in science classes throughout the land. As a starting point, Tristianity holds that:
  • The world was created by Tristan
  • It took him twenty minutes to create it
  • He deemed that mankind would be the "top dog" (pardon the insult) on the planet
  • No one could question the authenticity of these immutable facts
  • No one could question that Tristan is all powerful, and all-loving
  • If you disagree with this doctrine, you will spend eternity in a porta-potty upon your death
As a side note, Q, pah, Mr. Sprinkles, and The Voice of Reason were dubbed "apostles" just before Tristan's untimely demise. All tithes should be directed toward them, and anything they say or write is to be considered the divinely inspired word of Tristan - they speak for him, and all of their writings are to be taken literally (unless they decide to reverse themselves at a later time).

I submit that this great nation (America) was founded on the teachings of Tristan (ask any of the four apostles - we'll whip up an appropriate quote), and therefore any of our teachings must be politically correct (even if we disagree with each other on a given subject).

My question is:
How many of you Christians will back me up on this? I'm willing to put your version of creationism in science class, if you'll put ours in there with it. I'll take my chances that a kid of average intelligence can pick out the bull**** from what is based on rational thought.

PS - LittleNipper - your use of the word undermind twice in this thread is one of my favorite all time malaprops - truly a Freudian slip.

A growing number of scientists are realizing that the evidence contradicts that the Earth was created in 6 days. More and more, scientists are realizing that it wasn't created in 6 days after all...it was created in twenty minutes.

Voice,

I would dislike you if you weren't from Louisville :)

I would rather there be no doctrinal influences.

Just talk about things like if the whole of the surface of the earth were given over to creating amino acids and proteins, and they(proteins) formed at a billion/sec(i think might be faster) there would be a 1 in 10 to the 161st power chance that even one usable(all "left-handed") protein would be made in the geological time scale.

Yes, but when the earth was forming, the 'geological time scale' wasn't being used.

Emu -

Like yourself, I and my fellow apostles would prefer that science classes be restricted to exclude doctrinal influences. I am simply using this absurd tool to illustrate the fallacy of bringing religion into a science class.
I'm pretty sure that none of us "Tristans" will use the new religion in an argument or debate with a rational thinking person. We promise to resort to it only when a person on the other side of the aisle insists on basing every position he takes on a revealed faith. That said, most "Tristans" are pretty able to carry our position in a logical debate. Best of luck, mon amigo.
PS - Ceridwen18 - you might want to consider purchasing a spot on the Tristan team - I'm assuming you're willing to tithe to your local chapter. We'd be glad to have you, and the medallions we get to wear around our neck are always a nice touch. Think about it and PM me - we're holding a spot open on the team for you.
