Yes they should, no one would even let a dog suffer. That's not what I asked tho. Should the State provide painfree, safe, proven drugs to help one ends one's life quickly and painlessly?

Existential depression is not regular depression, It cannot be cured with drugs. A lot of people with it go on to suicide. Realising that life is meaningless, morality is made up, one is basically always alone with one's thoughts and free essentially in a purposeless world drives some people to insanity. I know, I've been there and it still affects me now and will forever.
I wish I could lend you some of my immunity to meaning in life.Existential depression is not regular depression, It cannot be cured with drugs. A lot of people with it go on to suicide. It is a cruel belief. We all need each other to help and to prosper. Individualism taken to stupid measures is undoable. It is a decidedly American capitalistic belief that we can all do well on our own. Other people do owe us. They owe us a nice environment, hospitals, libraries, schools and homes. If I see a person dying in the street, it's my duty to help him. It's human compassion.

Very well. When society works as a collective whole, rather than cut-throat, it works. I find it sad that many Americans cannot see past their own way of life. How's that working out for you?

I believe everybody is owed healthcare, education, a house and a bed. If I'm 20% poorer because some of my income went to a healthcare tax, I wouldn't care. I'd feel far happier that children with cancer can recieve treatment, or a poor kid can go to school or university.Never has. I have found that those who believe they are "owed" seem to operate under the theory that it's okay to wrestle it away from those that have "earned".
Interestingly enough, my first thought when reading the OP is: Who is going to pay for it?I mean rather than having to run in front of a truck or jump from a bridge, should the State provide a person who wishes to kill himself a safe and painless method of doing so? Assume this would apply to those 18+.
How much does it take to let someone die, I would say, stuff all.Interestingly enough, my first thought when reading the OP is: Who is going to pay for it?
Yes and therefor we should offer help medically to make their death a good one.Suicide is not painless. Talk to the grieving parents of any child who killed themselves.
ah, so you are thinking just remove the law that says suicide is illegal and let it sort itself out?How much does it take to let someone die, I would say, stuff all.
again, who is going to pay for it?Yes and therefor we should offer help medically to make their death a good one.
You read me wrong, I meant its doesn't coast much to let someone die, it actually coast more to continuing to let them live in agony.ah, so you are thinking just remove the law that says suicide is illegal and let it sort itself out?
I was under the impression from the OP that there would be a system set up to allow suicides....
I answered that question in my last post.again, who is going to pay for it?
Fair enoughYou read me wrong, I meant its doesn't coast much to let someone die, it actually coast more to continuing to let them live in agony.
I went back over the whole thread and have not seen where you said who would foot the bill.I answered that question in my last post.
Yes something is going on here, i went through and couldn't find what I said also ?.I went back over the whole thread and have not seen where you said who would foot the bill.
Perhaps you can provide a post number?
