should we have seperations like sunni, alawi, shii?

should we have seperations like sunni, alawi, shii? why did this seperation come from? do we need this? Quran is for all Muslims so why a seperation within us?

Jason there isn't really a lot of bickering or political infighting betweent the three groups is there? I understand that the celebration of ramadan is the time when the Muslims stop their inner fighting by the gift of the Koran from Allah to the people. To observe Ramadan is to be united in spirt right? The three differnent groups just differ in their understanding in the koran right? I am not sure on this so I am asking more than stating.

It occurs within every formal organization that I am aware of. Societies of every kind have their splits and often there is fighting. There does not appear to be any resolving principle.

it was broken up into sunni and shiite first because the shiites wanted muhammeds descendants to rule and the sunnis thought that any righteous and worthy man could ascend to the throne of the empire. thus began the schism between islam. i am sure there were probably other disagreements, but this is the only one i know of.

Such things probably occur for the same reasons as Luther and the first Protestants broke away just as the Puritans did. It is not always on what they believe, but how they should be goverened and the ceremonial differences.
