Species: Pan troglodytesTut, tut - me not monkey, me CHUMPANZEE!
Apes are distinct from monkeys.Species: Pan troglodytes
Genus: Pan
Tribe: Hominini
Subfamily: Homininae
Family: Hominidae
Infraorder: Simiiformes (monkeys)
Chimpanzees are apes, apes are monkey, thus, Chimpanzees are monkeys.
I thought you were among those who understood cladistics?
No sensible person would label an image of a chimp as being a monkey though.Species: Pan troglodytes

Maybe no native English speaking person. German, for example, doesn't make a distinction between apes and monkeys, they are all "Affen". (Well, biologists may point out that ape can be translated to "Menschenaffe", literally "human monkey".)No sensible person would label an image of a chimp as being a monkey though.
