'Kay Gehennaite. Since you have no use for science, obviously you don't have a smart phone, or a computer, or a hundred thousand other things that are available to the average person because of science. And if a doctor used a technology that exists only because of the science behind it, you would refuse the doctor's advice as his analysis is based on this useless science stuff. You wouldn't get a pacemaker if you had a heart condition. You won't accept a life saving treatment for your child because it was invented by science. You wouldn't accept a hip replacement. You don't have a television because that technology is based on satellites in orbit sending you the signal.
"All that is necessary in life are moral excellence and fondness of God", your words. "We don't need science to experience the greatest possible quality of life." Also your direct words.
In reality, of course, I expect you would use and do indeed take advantage of all the wondrous technologies that are only possible because of science. Making use of all this and condemning it at the same time seems kinda hypocritical don't you think?
Ship me to any time period in BCE and I'll do just fine, in fact I will probably be even happier.
You seem to fail to understand that technology has completely redesigned our infrastructure. We're now dependent on it. Long gone are the days of living off the land and working communally and societally to produce impressive cultures.
And it is quite obviously debatable whether or not technological advancement has truly improved our quality of life. More leisure =/= better life. I'm thankful for the internet, the computer, indoor heating, plumbing, and refrigeration, but if I was never raised in such environments do you really think I would feel at enmity with myself? That is biased thinking. Billions have come and gone just fine without it.
Interestingly enough, I live quite primitively compared to the average, modernized individual. I don't own a phone, cable, TV, vehicles, air conditioning, never needed Heathcare (
never will), etc.. I wouldn't be surprised if people in "third world" countries are more technologically savvy than me.
