Slug Bait....

Guitar's Cry

Disciple of Pan
Well, we are going to the store in a bit, maybe some PBR is in order. I may have to wear a disguise so no one sees me buying that swill. :p

That's smart. Many reputations have been ruined that way. You may even want to ask the cashier if you can duck out the backdoor. Just be sure to tell him it's for the slugs.

I just read this online....."Other alternatives include surrounding the affected plants with coarse sand, ground eggshells or diatomaecous earth. Slugs do not like to crawl over these jagged materials. They are soft-bodied, and the sharp materials can cut them to death. They must be replenished after rain or heavy dew to be most effective."

I hear used coffee grounds work well, or woodfire ash. I tried both last year, but the rain we had every other day just washed it all away.

Lunessa! I have missed seeing you here! Have I ever told you that I have a good friend named Roxanne? She'd find it pretty humorous that you call me that. I can't even remember how we got started with that silliness now. All that I remember is that I liked calling you Lunessa the best. :D

Beer it is then! I'm putting dishes out tonight. At least they'll go out happy singing 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.

Can you fence it? At least a 6ft high fence? Otherwise, have you tried this?
Deer Repellent, Rabbit Repellent - Deer Out

Let me know how the beer works out for you. Seems like salt and all those other things would be washed away with the same rain that brings the slugs. (and WHY do we not have a slug icon?).

I am going to try the deer repellent. You would think that my dogs would keep deer away, but they (the deer) are very bold. I am not allowed to put up 6-ft. fence due to HOA. I am thinking of increasing to the max height, but I know they can still jump that because they jump my neighbors' fences all the time. Because mine is slightly lower they tend to go through my yard.

Good to see you too! I have not had much time for RF, and now the girls are out of school for the summer, so I again have new distractions.

Cheers!
