Griffin, a county commissioner in the state, hastily added that he only meant Democrats who were dead in “the political sense”—an effort at cleanup he repeated in an interview with The Daily Beast on Tuesday.

“I could’ve chosen a different verbiage, you know. I guess I need to be more careful when I choose the words that I speak,” Griffin said. “But you know, it’s just so hypocritical of the left how they’re blowing this up, like I’m some hate-speech murderer.”

But in the interview, Griffin also repeated his claim that “the only good Democrat is a dead one” and signaled that he still thinks some top Democrats—such as governors Ralph Northam (D-VA) and Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI)—could be guilty of treason and the punishment that comes with it.

“You get to pick your poison: you either go before a firing squad, or you get the end of the rope,” Griffin said.

Apparently, he's a county commissioner in New Mexico. He said he "could've chosen a different verbiage," which is true. But later on he said that the Democrats could be guilty of treason, which carries the death penalty.

Hating on queers, liberals, democrats and 'college educated city-slickers' (all the same to them) is what they live for. It's who they see themselves as being better than, so they can gain back some sense of their own superiority.

Now Trump is all about getting injections of insulin. How long before we see people demanding those shots even if it kills them. After all, following the autocratic leader is mandatory.

From what I can tell that's how demagogues often lead people to accept that kind of rhetoric. You first start with seemingly harmless, jokey statements that get more and more extreme, but still maintain plausible deniability. Then when people have become accustomed to that kind of rhetoric (or are even looking forward to it) you bust out the bigger guns.

It's getting worrisome to say the least. I have never seen anything like this, and it's trickling down to his disciples as well. Just yesterday I had a very unpleasant gentleman insisting on talking politics in my business. I told him to knock it off as there were other customers in the store that may not think like him. He proclaimed that he, Quote, "didn't give a good God @$#@ what anybody else thought". I told him that I did because this was my place of business and my living. Soon as the other customer left he started in again. I told him at that point that I was not a Trump fan. I thought he was going to physically attack me. Instead, he left, mouthing off all the way out the door. This same person made a statement a couple of weeks ago that he would vote for Trump even if he were a child molester. He said that in the same conversation that he said America messed up when it took prayer out of school. To say that I was shocked at such a statement, would be an understatement. I said before that the political climate in this country today feels like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Trump has exposed a serious deficiency in the evangelical community.

He's forcing Twitter's hand here so he can claim censorship. Before, Twitter only put a disclaimer on his false tweets. With this, he's hoping it's so flagrant they'll have to take it down. Sigh.
