Also uh...BSM1 has posted that he is also in range; and Rev is down in SC he claims. That's within driving distance sort-of. We could all go down and see his engine museum.

Well I must admit I am a fan of Southern California..... not so much San Francisco though, I did not like that place.... it made the Bob Marley songs in my head, that appear whenever I am in Southern California, go away...but then this isn't about me....its about me and the state of Virginia

Dawn and I live in the Tidewater region.
Another reason: I had ancestors from Virginia.
You will be able to drive to DC for looking at stuff for free.

Are you talking inland (Appalachian) mountain Virginia?....retire to Virginia?
Or Virginia Beach?
Personally, I'd go with the mountains....as @Brickjectivity mentioned, Norfolk is too tempting as a nuke target,
plus flooding is not good for bear fur.

We have bears here in my neck of VA and I never heard one of them complain yet. You'll fit right in as long as you swear never to ride a unicycle and juggle.

Currently the only place Mrs Wu has talk about is where we were...Williamsburg. And then anyplace between there and DC that we drove through

Williamsburg is nice and not too far from the mountains or the coast. Lots of historic sites, shopping, nice resturaunts, lakes, forests, parks, etc.
