This thread is a little early I know but it seems like it is an established RF Holiday tradition. So whenever you receive your holiday “booty” please pipe-in and share with other RFers.

I didn’t ask for much this year but I got what I wanted and a few surprises. This year I only asked mrscardero for one thing and that was the hardcover edition of DC Archives Metal Men Volume 1. DC has been putting out these reasonably priced archive books of Golden and Silver Age reprints for years but they were always so expensive but they are impressively produced. High gloss stock paper, beautifully bound reinforced book spine and professional reproductions from the original artwork with advanced coloring. Metal Men from DC Comics was always a favorite of mine but when you try to go back and buy these issues separately they could cost anywhere from $25-$450 an issue so I am glad that DC is reprinting these unaffordable issues into a hardcover edition this is just a little more affordable.

From my friend Ralph (who seems to have his finger on the pulse of Patrickism), I received this beautiful tie-dyed T-Shirt replicating one of my favorite animated movies; The Beatles THE YELLOW SUBMARINE (I know that it wasn’t their real voices). Ralph knows I collect cartoon clothing and he knows my deep appreciation for this movie, so I will always wear it with fond remembrance.

The next gift was sort of surprise, a joke that kind of backfired on me. A lot of you may not remember but back in September, I posted a thread entitled I know What I Want For Christmas and I posted a link that when you clicked on it you were treated to a little toy product commercial.

Well how was I supposed to know that Santa logs on to RF because one of my presents were, you guessed it-a Barbie/Tanner play set. Usually I do not open these figures, they stay factory sealed and placed upon the wall of toys to be admired and revered. I also do not collect Barbie figures but since Tanner is an action figure (pooping is a verb), I tore this present open with the glee and the excitement of a confused 5 year old boy.
Barbie is the standard blonde model but this time she sports a pooper scooper (that really works) and starts taking some responsibility. Tanner seems to be a golden retriever and comes with random chew toys and a teddy bear, a bowl, a box of food and of course, pellets that look uncannily like the poop that comes out the other end (extra poop sold separately) and a garbage can (?!?!?!). Needless to say, for about an hour and a half this dog could not stop eating and I kept Barbie quite busy. Like any normal boy/man, I wanted to see how far I could take my imagination and stretch the viability of my toys, so I got the chocolate syrup from the refrigerator and poured it down the dog’s throat and sure enough it appeared at the other end. Since I did not have anything to clean the mess up with, I scraped the dog along the living room carpet until it was clean. When mrscardero had seen what I done, both Tanner and I were sent outside for a “time out” while mrscardero scrubbed the carpet (Barbie stayed indoors, confessing that she had no part in it). When we were allowed in, Tanner was quickly taken from me and put in a high place where I couldn’t reach him/her. Mrscardero said I could play with Barbie (which really wasn’t the same without Tanner) and that I could have Tanner back, after she brought him to the “vet” (which I was assured did not reopen till Tuesday).

Another nice thing about receiving the Barbie/Tanner play set, is that when I finally go over tlcmel’s house to play Barbies, I won’t be going over empty-handed.

It's not fair! You'll get to see your presents 10 hours bewfore I see mine !!!!

I don't expect much - we're not a family for splashing out on Christmas presents - sure if there is something I know my wife wants, I'll get it - which strangely enough, I have done this year; she has read most of the Jeffrey Archer books - and his latest novel is out...I have got her that (plus some chocs she likes)...

The older you get, the harder it is to think of anything one wants.....at least, that's my experience!!

Edit:- Thanks Pat, that just reminded me that it was an ideal time to pack my wife's presents while she's out with our son!:D

I was very surprised by what I got for Christmas. I made it very clear to my parents that I didn't want them to buy me anything for Christmas because there wasn't anything I wanted or needed and they already spend enough money on me through out the year. But still they paid for airplane tickets to Arizona to visit a family friend from Germany who is working for a family in Pheonix. I thought I wasn't going to be able to go because of the money, but it's awesome that I get to go. :D
