I was born Margaret Ann. I apparently announced, at around two or so, that my name was "Meggie".

One thing I especially love about the name Margaret is that can mean either 'pearl' or 'daisy', which is my favorite flower. Oddly enough, I recently found a type of daisy with my two favorite colors, yellow and blue! (And in my favorite shades of both, too!)

I think Meggie is lovely!

It is. :)

And crap...there ya go again Majikthise...utilizing avatars with a dude who at first sight looks like George Eads but upon closer inspection...I find that (GASP) ...it's someone else.

Oh woe is me!:sad4:

Well, then, you must have more! *huge hugs* You deserve even more!

Dan's most wonderful avatar is "Farscape"s John Crichton (whose last name I can never spell), played by Ben Browder. Yumyumyumyum...

Ben Browder looks almost George Eadish.

I think George Eads is beautiful.

Pardon me while I drag us completely off topic! I think both are hotties!

Here's a good one of your George!

And one of Ben, in character!

That'll be enough eye candy for my visual sweet tooth!

Back on topic! You brought up an interesting point, Sunstone.

Both in Japan and among some Native Americans individuals were known to change their names when they felt that some event, experience or circumstances had changed them, changed their selves. There was one Japanese painter for example who went through several artistic periods, each time taking a new name. I don't think this has been a frequent occurance, but it's my understanding that it was more frequent in traditional Japan and in some of the old nations than it is among Westerners today.

Is the internet today allowing people to express this same impulse to name oneself anew, when one feels one has been reborn by some life changing event or cirumstances? I've wondered about that. What do y'all think?

I think it does make it easier for people to express change in their life through their names, which I think is a good thing. Hopefully, it helps them to celebrate some aspect of their character!

Thanks, Feathers! :)

George rocks and my apologies for the derailment. :)

Lol, well mine is Daniel, which I have sort of half decided I don't like, half because it's just a name and I don't care what it means and represtents and the other half that does care and doesn't like that it represent justice and\or god is my judge, which is untrue and sybolises something I really don't believe in which is god and 'Justice' which to me says vengence and I think that is such a pityful concept.

I really like the name Daniel, but just 'cause I like it, not just for the meaning. However, if you think about the meaning "God is my judge," you could see that as a statement of confidence in the path you have chosen, whatever it may be.

Do you mind one more derailment? Or, I could throw my middle name in to keep things on topic!

I don't watch hardly any TV...so, I am going to assume these two yummy specimens of manhood are found on TV? My goodness.......I am missing THIS??????

They are both quite delicious, but my preference would be for the guy on the bottom...with the leather pants. Thanks for the eye candy girls! :D

Daniel is a good name! It seems to walk the line between friendly and 'professional' very well!

Hmm... I'm going to route this derailment over to the Girl talk thread, if that's okay!

Hey, no apologizing! Or if anyone should, it should be me! I hope the wonderful MysticSang'ha won't mind our briefly thread-napping her lovely thread!

Are the majority of the people here happy with the name they were given? So far, everyone seems to have a name that really suits their personality!

Um, it's my thread?

I know, and my apologies are going to you! I'm very sorry.

I was actually talking about moving the discussion of guys to another thread, which happened to be Mystic's. I didn't mean for it to seem like I was saying this thread was anyone else's.
