Socialist AOC doesn't know what a garbage disposal is.

I once got a call from a group of college students about how to turn on the heat
in their house. It turns out that none of them knew what a thermostat was.
(Their parents had always handled such things for them.) So a garbage
disposal could indeed be something new for young whippersnappers
recently moving out on their own.

No no no!!

Ya got it all wrong. It's pink Cadillacs and Johnny Cash!
Johnny Cash rules. I think my taste in music would confuse the test beyond any useful results. I listen to Johnny Cash, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Van Halen, the Police, Queen, Joe Diffy, Clint Black, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Cream, Sawyer Brown, Alabama, the Who, Durran Durran, Men at Work, Nirvana, etc., etc. I am not sure what kind of political position could be discerned from all of that.

When I was younger, I found a black 1962 Caddie limo parked outside of some guys barn. It was in great shape. It inspired dreams of fixing it up. It looked like it was 200 feet long, with this industrial-sized power plant filling the engine compartment. I just could not afford it, but in my mind it was one slick, black, Cadillac.

Perhaps the maid handled garbage for her?
My parents, who weren't exactly poor, made us kids to it.
Before washing dishes, you scrape the scraps into a pail under the sink. The pail gets emptied every day.

I guess you grew up, and have always lived, with more elitism and privilege.

But, I already could tell that from your opinions. It's not exactly news.

Fun anecdote; as I've mentioned before, we spent a lot of time in the US when I was a kid, and when my ("posh") parents remodelled their kitchen some years back, they made a point of getting a sink garbage disposal, iirc it had to be imported specially as none of the kitchen companies in our city carried them. What's interesting is that now it's barely used, and my sadly, bafflingly, tribal Right leaning father, who loudly derides climate change and other environmental issues, personally scrapes all the kitchen scraps and runs worm farms and compost heaps.

Even the posh ones?

Some people have them, they are usually called waste disposal units.
There was one in my daughters house when she bought it, but she had it taken out.
They are considered less than hygienic by most people . And not at all Green. Foodwaste is collected weekly in the uk and processed with garden rubbish into compost.
If you grind it down the kitchen sink, it has to be processed by the water company at the sewage works, adding to the process of purifying waste water before it is returned to the rivers.

Of course, you & I are old enuf to predate garbage disposals.
So rich or poor, age makes us irrelevant to the modern age.
